Here’s the chair Hubby has been working on.

I’m not too sure about the color though. It was paint left over from Jessica’s bed so we thought we would use it on this prototype. What color do you ladies think I should paint them. I wanted to paint them red but I know it would look terrible in my dining room. We have a large brick chimney in the room and our floors are mahogany.

Here’s a picture of the brick chimney.

The floor.

The table I want to use the chairs with (until I talk him into building a new one). Please let me know your ideas as I am not very good at decorating but I really would like to brighten it up some.

Here is a picture of the color I think I would like. I have always liked the idea of red chairs. I’m not sure where this picture came from, maybe Lowes.com. Well, while I’m at all this table and chair stuff, I might as well show you all the table I think I would like. Notice all the ‘I think’.

I got this picture from www.soulemama.com I think it would look good in my dining room, don’t you all. Well, it’s almost time to get ready for church. Tonight’s menu is baked spaghetti, slaw, green beans, homemade rolls and dessert. Dessert is unknown as Mrs. Sally said “I’ll bring some kind of dessert”. I love surprises! Enjoy your evening and God bless.

I thought I would show you all a few pictures of around our house. This picture is one of the old walnut trees that is in the yard. The faithful horse you see has survived Julie and Grace and is now being enjoyed by grandchildren.

This picture is looking out my dining room window.

As you come down our driveway, this is one of the first things you see. Hubby built the bench a few years ago. The swing was one purchased from Wal-Mart. When the cloth seats gave out, Hubby made a wood swing to hang on the frame. Can you tell we love to sit outside here?

This picture looks up into the field from the side yard. You can see our grapevine and garden. Well, I have a few more pictures but they will have to wait for another day. Time for us to leave for church. Tonight’s menu is meatloaf, mac & cheese, corn, rolls, cole slaw, cooked apples and watermelon. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Our dogwood tree in bloom. This one is located just outside the dining room window.

Our lilac bush. I love just walking around the house and smelling the sweet smell. They make the entire yard smell so good.

Coming around the house from the kitchen door, looking at the bushes. The smaller bush is our gooseberry bush.

Care to rest, anyone? This is a beautiful sitting spot. We will be going to Jessica’s to celebrate Easter with them. I pray you all have a wonderfully, blessed Easter filled with the presence of our Lord.
God bless.

Every year at Easter and Christmas, I make pickled eggs as a special treat for my Hubby. He and David both like them so I will be taking them down with me for our Easter dinner. Don’t they look so colorful in the jar?
Yesterday we had some pretty hard wind. Our plastic is still on our greenhouse, YEAH. I had clothes on the line drying and looked out our dining room window and a pair of Hubby’s jeans had blown off the line and into the dogwood tree. I should have taken a picture of them hanging from the limb but I didn’t think of it in time. Anyway, the wind is not as bad today. Our clothes are all still on the line. Hubby and his brother are working on the van window. Hopefully, they will be able to fix it. It has been more difficult than he first thought it would be.
Well, time for us to start back on school. Enjoy your day and God bless.

This is part of the book shelf that sits in our dining room. Hubby transformed it from an old quilt rack into a darling bookcase several years ago. I am so blessed to have a husband who is talented in the art of carpentry. We are back from Jessica’s. We got some of the painting done. We still have to finish painting the trim. We had a great visit. The only sad thing is that baby Sam got sick with strep throat while we were there. This is his first real sickness.
We haven’t done very much today. We ran a few errands and visited some with the Horn’s. It had been a long time since we visited with them. We just wished it could have been a little longer visit. We got a little snow over night but it is almost all gone now. Temperature, though, was very cold this morning about 15 degrees with wind chills down around zero. I think I would like some warm weather now.
I am going to watch a movie I ordered from netflix. It is called Sarah’s Choice. I think it will be very good. I saw the preview of it on the inspiration channel. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Our apple tree is blooming. Isn’t it pretty! We are not sure what type of apples these are. The tree was here when we came. However they are very good apples. The tree blooms very early though and usually gets caught in the frost. I fear this will happen this year. Temperatures tonight will be in the upper 20′s. We have had a very hard wind for 2 days now so of course it feels much colder. Temperature now is about 50 with a wind chill of about 40. YUCK! I guess this is what we call “dogwood winter” as the dogwoods are blooming now. Warmer temps are on the way though. Yeah!

Dogwood in bloom outside our dining room window.

My bouquet of flowers for the ladies today. I love to have fresh flowers out when they come. Makes the room look so much more cheerful. We all enjoyed these today. Forsythia and spirea. Class went very well. Two ladies could not come. We missed you, Wanda and Vicki. I know I have said this many times, but this really is a good study. She takes it nice and slow so you get to just let it all sink in. I like that. I better get started on supper. Take care and God bless.

I simply LOVE old school books. Here are a few that I have collected over the years. I learned to read with Dick and Jane and taught my girls with the same books. They have such wonderful pictures. The last picture is of two old books from my Dad’s childhood. Inside the cover, there are the names of many of my aunts and uncles. I suppose they just passed the books down. Gotta love that. We still do that here in this household. Just pass them on. These books have a very important place in my schoolroom/dining room, along with an old Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox. The lunchbox is metal and still has the thermos in it. It belonged to Jess. Such happy memories.
As you can tell, it was a much loved lunch box. Lots of rain here last night. Today has been overcast. Temperature in the mid 40′s. Not too bad. Supper tonight will be pork tenderloin on the grill, fresh pineapple, home fries, home canned green beans and homemade biscuits. For dessert we have some cinnamon rolls left over from the other day. This will be served with cold mint tea. Are you all hungry yet? I am so I guess I better go get that grill going. Take care and God bless.

We have been entertained all day today by these beautiful birds. Many, many birds. Every time I looked out my dining room window, I would see 50-60 birds in our yard. Probably 20 of these were doves. We love feeding the birds. They love sunflower seeds. This morning as Hubby and I were sharing our coffee together, we listened as they sang morning praises to the Lord. Beautiful! We take care of them by feeding them and they take care of us by providing beautiful praise music. I think that’s a fair trade. It was a little distracting doing school and watching the birds, though. Well, the fog has moved in here. Super foggy. High wind warnings for tomorrow and Thursday 25-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. This will be for Wednesday and Thursday. I never knew what fog and wind could be like until we moved to Floyd. No church tomorrow night-it’s already cancelled. I guess it isn’t done snowing yet. I just looked out and the snow is pouring down. Oh well. We are warm inside our home, our tummy’s are full and our children are happy. Life is good! God Bless.

Well, we did get the snow. It started last night around 8:30 and is still snowing. It does, however, make everything look beautiful. I had a hard time deciding which pictures to use, but finally decided on these two. The first one is from my dining room window. In the second one, I thought I would show you the pond is just as pretty in snow as in sun. It really has been a great day. The snow has fallen steady all day. We made homemade rolls, a homemade cake, and had 15 bean soup for lunch. I think I’ll go start on an apron later or maybe just read a book. Life is Good! I pray your day is as enjoyable as mine has been. God Bless.

We went over to our friends house today to celebrate her daughter’s birthday. We had homemade pizza and birthday cake. It was delicious. Thanks again Vicki. Then she gave me a surprise. She made me this beautiful wall hanging! I could’nt wait to get home and put it on my wall. I think it looks just perfect in my dining room. To me, nothing says you care about people more than hand made items. I LOVE IT! Tonight’s menu at church is baked spaghetti, salad, bread, green beans, corn, and cake with ice cream. Sounds good, huh. Weather here is rain, rain, and then maybe some more rain. Oh well, at least its not ice. We now have mud everywhere. The snow has melted and the ice has melted and they say there is a chance for flooding. I’m glad the Good Lord is in charge of all this and not me. Well, I better get busy getting those green beans ready. God Bless.
