Saturday we went to Tweetsie for the last time this season. We had a lot of fun. The fall colors were beautiful!
Sam was so excited. He loves riding the “choo choo”.
Daniel had a great time. He loves riding all the rides.
This guy has a magic show. The girls loved it. They have always been interested in magic tricks.
Friday we went bowling with the Horn’s. We had so much fun. On the first Friday of every month our bowling alley has homeschool day. They offer discounts on games and shoe rental is free. We are hoping to get to go again soon.
School is going good so far. Of course, the first week or so usually does as it is mostly review. I helped Hubby yesterday so we took our school to the job site, which is one of the reasons we love homeschooling.
Speaking of school, lunch break is almost over so I better get busy. Enjoy your day and God bless.
Here are a few of the pictures we took Saturday at Grayson Highlands. The colors of fall are looking pretty good here.
We have had rain for several days so lots of the leaves have just fallen off.
Hopefully, not all though. I love the colors of fall.
We started school yesterday. So far, everything is good. Mostly just review right now. We had some rather chilly weather yesterday so I built our first fire. It was nice to feel the warmth and smell the wood smoke again. Today we made a huge pot of chili beans for supper. We plan on canning some of it-if there’s enough left. It sure does smell good.
Well, lunch break is almost over. Enjoy your day and God bless.
I thought I would share with you all some of our pictures from our visit to the Grayson Highlands Festival today with the Horn’s. We saw lots of crafts and hand made items.
This was one of the biggest attractions. The making of molasses.
Here they are pouring the hot fresh made molasses into jars for selling. We, of course, bought one.
There was lots of food and lots of music.
But these little guys were the main attraction. They auction off these wild ponies every year. We stayed for a little of the auction but the rain finally forced us to leave.
It was a really fun day. I will show you some more of the pictures with the fall colors in my next post. I hope you all have a great weekend and God bless.
Here is another picture from our outing yesterday. Such beautiful colors. Today has been busy working on the new room. We have the vinyl flooring down. Now I should pause to say “where I come from” we call this linoleum. Here they call it vinyl flooring. Anyway, it is down on the floor. All the trim is cut, painted and on except for the window trim. It is really starting to look like a room. I will try to post a picture of it soon so you all can see our progress.
We did not have ladies bible study today. Two of the ladies were unable to come so we just decided to call it off. Probably for the best, my house is a little cluttered right now. Hopefully, soon it will all be finished and we can get everything back in order. Today has been a beautiful day here in Floyd. Nice temperatures, cool but not too much, lots of sunshine. We did have a fire all day which has felt really nice. I cooked my first kettle of pinto beans on the wood stove today so I guess fall is officially here. There is no better pinto beans than those cooked on a wood stove-in my opinion.
Well, still more to get done. Enjoy your evening and God bless.
Here are some more pictures taken on the back side of the road leading to our house. This little creek has always been a favorite of mine. Most of the pretty fall colors are disappearing now. They are not near as vibrant as they were. Still pretty though. Important things have happened today. However time does not allow me to tell them right now as it is almost time to leave for church tonight. I will post on these things tomorrow. We had a great time at the “critter chompin” last night. I won a $20.00 gift certificate to Cracker Barrel. We are all looking forward to dinner out sometime soon. Tonights menu at church is mostly leftovers from the ‘critter chompin” and from the business meeting we had today at church. Turkey Chili, Mexican Cornbread, ham biscuits, cheese ball, cakes, and who knows what else. We finish our study on Daniel tonight and then begin a study on Revelation. The two just seemed to go together. Time to leave. God Bless.
Here is a picture taken from our back porch. The trees are really getting some color to them. This one is a little late getting color. I hope to get some really good fall pictures to post. The temperatures have been a little cool here, overcast and dreary. Not good weather for picture taking. School has been going pretty good. I read this ladies blog and she talked about how they took about 30 minutes every morning to pick up and clean up. We have been trying this out and it works so much better for us. I can concentrate on school then and I am not distracted by housework that needs to be done. Speaking of school, it’s time for us to begin. God Bless
