I think it has been a long time since I made a post but things have been kinda busy here.  Jess and the boys came up on Thursday.  We spent Friday doing some shopping and then Dave came up Friday evening.  He and Hubby went over to our pastor’s house for a men’s shoot on Saturday.  Today Dave, Jess and the boys went with us to church.  It was pastor appreciation day.  We had a fellowship meal after church with lots and lots of good food.

Today has been a very nice day here in Floyd.  Sunshine, a slight breeze and a temperature of about 65 degrees.  Very nice.  I hope to get some fall pictures this week to show you all.  The trees are starting to get beautiful colors here.  Tomorrow the girls and I will go down to play with the boys while Jess has one last ultra sound.  She only has about 3 weeks to go.

Yes, I know, I have another bird picture but I couldn’t help myself.  He and the Mrs. come every morning to our catawba tree.  They swoop down get a bite of something and go back up to their limb.  It is always entertaining to watch.  Sorry about the flash glare that is present in his eye.  I did not know how to correct that.  Anyway, the picture shows how brilliant his color his.

We had some major storms come through here last night.    Jess called to tell us we had a tornado warning for our area.  Thank the Lord, that didn’t happen.  We did have lots of lightning and some rain.  This morning is calm but the fog is very thick.  Grace tells me she likes fog so today will be her kind of day.  We are supposed to go do our annual spring cleaning at church today.  I’m not sure if we will still be doing it or not.  We could clean inside but I don’t think we will be doing any outside cleaning. 

Yesterday we went to pick up Grace’s new glasses.  We did a little shopping in Sam’s and then came on home.  I didn’t want to overdue as Grace is still not back to 100 percent.  Hopefully today she will be feeling much better.  I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless.

We’re getting snow!  The girls and I went to Roanoke today to do some shopping at Sam’s.  We knew the forecast was for snow so we didn’t take too long.  It started to snow just as we were leaving.   We decided not to take the parkway because we know how dangerous it can get.  We enjoyed a nice ride home.  The snow was beautiful.  However, by the time we got home the roads were started to get a little slick.  I’m glad we left when we did.

Beautiful!  I feel the urge to make cookies and drink some hot cocoa.  Enjoy your day and God bless.

My newest helper.  It is a steam juicer.  I only found out about these this summer.  I think it will be very helpful for making juice.  I also can steam veggies in it.  Our grapes are almost ready so I am excited to try it out.  Hopefully it will be a wise investment.

We had a very busy weekend.  Hubby went to a shooting range with some people from church and the girls and I went to do some shopping.  I’ve been having trouble with my blood pressure being high and I am taking Hibiscus capsules for it.  Our health food store does not carry it so we have to go to another town to get it.  We also had to go to Lowes and purchase new stove eyes.  All the eyes on my stove had stopped working but one.  We got those put on but still had to go back Sunday and get two new receptables.  I think we are in good working order now.  It felt like I was cooking on a new stove this morning, with all the eyes working. 

A couple at our church celebrated their 50th anniversary this past week.  The church and her family gave them a surprise party.  Yes we did manage to keep it a secret.  Pretty amazing!  We had lots of good food and fellowship.  We are so blessed to have such good examples for our young people to follow. 

The decorations were very nice.  One little boy asked me if the cake was real or was it just to look at.  It was very pretty.  It was real by the way.

Miss you, already!  We are back from our visit.  The weather was beautiful, 58 degrees when we left this afternoon.  Pretty nice here too, 45 degrees.  The sun is shining and lots of snow has melted.  We actually have a front yard now.  Our little man was sick this weekend.  He has the same thing Julie and Grace have had.  YUCKY!  However,  as we were playing in his toy room this weekend, he looked up at me and said “I love you, MawMaw”.  Well of course my heart melted.  I have tried since he began talking to get him to say that, and just like that he says it.  No prompting from me, nothing.  Just straight from his heart to mine.   Everything in God’s time.  That of course was the highlight of my trip.  We had lots of great food to eat, did some shopping.  I found the girls a dress for piano recital at Goodwill.  Could not find shoes though.  Hopefully we will find some before the recital.  It’s time for us to leave for church.  I just wanted to share with you all my sweet words from my special boy.  Take care and God bless.

Here’s some new material I bought today.  I am going to make Christmas aprons with it.  3 of them will have red binding and a red pocket.  The other one will have a pocket made from the same material as the apron and white binding.  I think they will look very cheerful and festive.  Today was spend shopping, piano lessons, and getting groceries.  Hopefully I can get some sewing done before bedtime.  I finished a scarf today crocheted in Floyd School colors, black and gold.  It looks really good and it’s already sold.  I really like that.  Temperatures are cool here today.  Mid 60′s with strong wind.  We read the other day in Psalms that wind comes from God’s personal storehouse.  So now when I feel the wind (we get a lot of wind here) I just remember where it comes from.  Personal touch from God.  How good is that.  God Bless.

I must be getting soft in my old age.  What was I thinking?  We went to visit my oldest daughter this weekend.  She wanted to get our grandson a puppy.  We found some free and I suppose Dad and I gave in to the excitement of the moment and brought this guy home.  He completely enjoyed the ride home(over 1 hour) in Julie’s lap so I suppose this means he likes to ride.  He is lab and shepherd mix.  We already have 1 large dog (chow and retriever mix)

He is an excellent farm dog and we want him to train Jasper to be a good dog also.   Other than the puppy we also got some new clothes  for the girls while shopping with Jess.  Dad and David did some more remodel on Dave’s bathroom.  Walls are sheetrocked and shower stall is built.  Pictures of this can be found on Dave’s blog www.dlbates.com.  We also received some much needed MawMaw and PawPaw time.    I wanted to let everyone know my husband also has a blog he has started working on www.gdjg55.com.  Check  it   out.
