Candlelight Service

100_2918

Every Christmas Eve our church has a candlelight service.  I wanted to show you all how beautiful it is but the pictures just didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.   We light all our oil lamps and they serve as our lighting for the service.  We sing Christmas songs and the pastor reads the Christmas story.  Then we have communion.

Next, we make a circle around the sanctuary and light our little hand held candle, sing a few more Christmas songs and leave.   It is always such a moving service reminding us of the TRUE reason we celebrate.

Sunday morning, Hubby and I got up and enjoyed our morning coffee together as usual.  Then the girls got up, we opened our gifts, ate breakfast and got ready for church.  It was a very nice service.  We did not have Sunday School.  We came home, ate homemade soup.  I made it from the leftovers from Friday’s dinner.   Then we just relaxed the remainder of the day.  We didn’t have Sunday night church.

We had planned on taking down the Christmas tree and all the decorations today but I think that will have to be another day.  It is raining pretty hard here and it is cold.  Temperature is 28 degrees with a fairly strong wind.  All our decorations are stored up in one of our buildings.  I’m not too big on carrying all that up in the cold rain.  Maybe tomorrow.

Enjoy your day and God bless.

Raspberries

Our raspberries are getting ripe!  YUMMY!!!!  Black raspberries are one of my favorite fruits.  We have a few vines we have been working on getting established and it looks like this year we might get enough to make a cobbler at least.  (if we can keep the birds out of them)

Yesterday was a nice day.  We came back from church and cooked steak on the grill in honor of Dad’s day.  Steak on the grill is Hubby’s favorite meal.  We had fries with it, rolls and ice cream for dessert.  Our pastor’s sermon was very good.  It was of course directed mostly to the men in the church.  He preached on Ezekiel 22:30.  The verse says “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land.  I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land but I found none.”  He challenged our men to be the one that could stand in the gap.  It was a very powerful message.

Temperature here this morning is wonderful.  Low 60’s with a pretty strong wind.  Great for drying clothes.  I have one load ready to hang out and several more to go.  The girls and I have many errands to run today plus piano lessons.  I guess I better get busy.  Enjoy your day and God bless.

New Material

100_2149100_2147100_2146Here’s some new material I bought today.  I am going to make Christmas aprons with it.  3 of them will have red binding and a red pocket.  The other one will have a pocket made from the same material as the apron and white binding.  I think they will look very cheerful and festive.  Today was spend shopping, piano lessons, and getting groceries.  Hopefully I can get some sewing done before bedtime.  I finished a scarf today crocheted in Floyd School colors, black and gold.  It looks really good and it’s already sold.  I really like that.  Temperatures are cool here today.  Mid 60’s with strong wind.  We read the other day in Psalms that wind comes from God’s personal storehouse.  So now when I feel the wind (we get a lot of wind here) I just remember where it comes from.  Personal touch from God.  How good is that.  God Bless.
