Today is a beautiful day here in Floyd. The sun is shining. Temperature is 55 degrees. I LOVE IT! I know there are lots of people who enjoy winter and cold weather. I am not one of them. For my part, it could just stay like this until spring. I’m pretty sure it won’t though. We have lots of geese on the pond today. Probably close to 50. They seem to be enjoying the warmer temps too.
We have been busy today making treats for Jessica’s “goodie” basket. So far, we have made chocolate chip cookies and Russian tea cakes. We still have Martha Washington balls and peanut butter balls to make. She always wants ritz crackers with peanut butter spread between them, dipped in white chocolate with an m & m on top(I have no idea what this is called but it is one of her favorites). Tomorrow I will be baking a ham and making homemade rolls. Other things on the menu (as of right now)-pasta salad, green beans, cocktail weiner, angel punch and sausage balls.
I guess I better get busy-more candy to make. I love this time of year. Enjoy your day and God bless.

My girls.

Baby Sam. I think I see a little mischievousness in his eyes, don’t you?

Little Daniel. What could be better than sitting in Dad’s lap, doing big boy stuff (watching the clay shoot) and drinking a coke.
I consider, after my salvation, my family to be my greatest gift from God.
Today has been a nice day here in Floyd. Rather warm for this time of year. Mid 80′s. Beautiful sunshine. One of those days that I just love. I have clothes on the line drying, school has went very well and my house is ”relatively” clean. (okay, so we’re still working on the house part) Overall, just a wonderful day. Thank you, Jesus!
Enjoy your day and God bless.

Just a few pictures of the fun we had at our horseshoe pitch. We think we might do it again before summer is over. It was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful place down by the river, a great place to camp.

This is a picture of our pastor and his wife. I believe the Lord truly led him to our church. I have never known a pastor to fit in with a church like him and his wife do. I think they are truly dedicated to the Lord and want to serve Him.

One of our catawba trees. We have several in our yard. Right now we are enjoying our “summer snow”. When these trees bloom out and the bloom starts falling, it looks like it has snowed in our yard. Very pretty.

A better view of the blooms. We spent some time yesterday with our friends, the Horns. The kids had fun playing together. Vicki and I walked around her yard and garden. She has a beautiful garden this year. She has already picked peas from her garden. Hopefully, ours will be ready soon. We had a pretty good rain yesterday. The garden was needing a drink. However, the rain came while we were gone, so the clothes hanging on the line were soaked. I had to bring them in, spin them out again in the machine and then dry them inside. Oh well, things like that happen. I think it will be a nice day here today. Kinda hot for us but it is getting that time of year. Enjoy your day and God bless.

For those of you who do not have the comfort of a wood fire to enjoy, I thought I would share ours. One of the girls(I’m not sure which one) took this picture. I thought it looked so warm and cozy. Today I cooked chicken and dumplings over that wood fire in my cast iron kettle. YUM! Very cold temperatures this morning made us really appreciate that wood fire. The temperature was around 8 degrees with a below zero wind chill. COLD!!! Today it warmed up to the mid 20′s and the wind has laid down some but it is still very cold. Oh well, I quess it’s that time of year. Today was bible study day here at my home. One of the ladies brought some wild rice soup to share with everyone. Thanks, Barbara. We have about 2 weeks left on our Peter study and then in January we plan to start Beth Moore’s Esther study. We will be taking a 2 week Christmas break. Well I guess I better get some work done. I am working on a quilt. I will try to post a picture when it is finished. God Bless.

Our first snow! The snow started about 6:30 this morning and is still coming down at 2:00. The girls are so happy. They have been out several times to play. The Horn family is supposed to come over later this afternoon for a visit. The girls can hardly wait. Playing in the snow with their best friends. Vicki is bringing homemade potato soup. I am making homemade rolls and dessert. Our tree is up and snow is falling. It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas around here. I love this time of year. God Bless

Our mantle. The girls and I spent the morning putting away fall decorations. Then we decided to decorate the mantle for winter. We think it looks pretty good. What do you think? I like to use snowmen instead of Santa Claus, that way I can leave them up all winter. Not just for Christmas. I know I’m kinda lazy when it comes to decorating. I really enjoy the putting up of decorations, its the taking down I don’t like. Anyway the mantle was fun. We had egg nog and enjoyed being together. Life is good. No, life is GREAT! I so enjoy my girls and being at home with them. We plan on putting the Christmas tree up Saturday. More egg nog, Christmas music, hot chocolate. I can’t wait! They are calling for a chance of snow Saturday here. Maybe some ice. I prefer snow, however we’ll see. It will probably just be cold. I hope you all have as much fun as we do this time of year. God Bless.
