Eagles

We have quite a few eagles around the farm but yesterday was a special treat.

We had three eagles at our pond. Amazing!

Grace had stepped out to clean out her duck house. We are expected to get extremely cold over the next few days so she wanted to give them fresh straw. She looked over at the pond and there they were. She grabbed her camera and got some amazing pictures. It was SO exciting!

Over the weekend I decided to plant a few seeds. I planted several lettuce blends, kale, spinach and radishes. I plan on using these to make fresh salads. Hopefully (weather permitting) we will set up our larger greenhouse this weekend. Dave is coming to help us.

Dave gave Grace these bronze ducks. She loves ducks. These ducks were his Grandpa’s. She has them on a table in her art room.

That’s about all for now. I hope you have a good day and God bless.

Chef Daniel

Good morning everyone! Yesterday we enjoyed supper at Jess’s. Daniel made us another one of his Raddish Kids meals. It was so good.

Dessert

I am so happy that he is enjoying doing this. Sam’s Tinker Crate is supposed to arrive today. Fun stuff!

We have had a wet week so Grace and I decided to do an inside project. We painted what we call the “new room”. This room was added a few years back. It is a combination room. As you can see our washer is in there and extra commode, plus storage. Grace has a curious helper!

We LOVE the colors.

The blue color was a miss matched paint from home depot and the green is called sea mist.

Grace carried my small greenhouse to the front porch for me. Sorry the pic is a little dark. I am looking forward to starting some greens in here hopefully next week. I want to start some lettuces, kale, chard, spinach, radishes and onions. Salad fixings.

Speaking of seeds, I received another order in the mail yesterday. I am looking forward to trying the lemon squash, supposedly they are resistant to insects. That would be nice as we have an over abundance of squash bugs here.

I also made a loaf of this bread. It is baked in a dutch oven which makes for a crunchy crust and a soft interior. I got the recipe from a YouTube channel I watch called Living Traditions Homestead.

Well that’s all now. I need to get started putting all the stuff back in the new room. God bless.

Hello

Good morning everyone! We have been getting some wintry weather here in Floyd.

We had some snow and ice over the weekend.

Then more snow on Thursday.

I don’t mind snow but the temperature is supposed to drop dramatically tomorrow. Tomorrow’s high I think is supposed to be around 40 and within 24 hours the temperature will be close to zero. Big change!

I have been crocheting some. I just finished this hat for Dave.

I also received some of my seeds in the mail this week. This company is new to me but they have excellent prices. I have some more ordered from Baker Creek seeds that should be delivered Monday.

We picked up these seed packets at Rural King the last time we were there. I love getting ready for gardening.

God bless.

Snow and Ice

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are all having a nice weekend. We got a little snow and ice storm here yesterday. It wasn’t too bad but definitely enough to keep us home.

I decided since I was home it was a good time to work on organizing my seeds.

They were in much need of help.

I laid them all out on the floor so I could see what I had. This part was a little challenging as the kitty cats kept wanting to help.

Then I made file folders for them and put them in alphabetical order. I made the larger envelopes you see in front for my bigger seed packets. I always buy corn and bean seed in bulk.

I really like how this turned out. Much better than it was.

That’s all for now. I hope you have a great Sunday and God bless.

More Sunrise Pictures

We have had beautiful sunrises this week.

I thought I would share a few of them with you all.

As you all know I love sunrises and sunsets. I love the brilliant colors.

I also love the soft colors.

Our God is so creative!

And I love the fact that He wants to share all His creativity with us.

So amazing! That’s all the sunrise pictures for now.

Grace and I have been busy this week. Richard came over on Thursday and we worked some more on the big catawba tree. He brought his big splitter. We got a lot done. We worked about 3 hours.

Grace brought all the smaller pieces in the wood shed. We can split these ourselves with our little splitter.

Grace worked on the ditch on Monday. Hopefully this will help keep some of the mud out of our driveway.

I’ve been getting lots of seed books. I love seed books. I have already spent hours looking at them. This seed company is located in my home state. I looked it up on the internet and it is only 3 hours from where we live. My friend Vicki and I are working on a plan to go there. I have always wanted to go to Baker Creek Seeds but it is a long way to travel.

It is cold here today. Wind gusts 40 to 50 mph. 15 degrees temperature with wind chill -1. I kinda dread the outside chores this morning. The sun is shining though and that always helps. We are supposed to get snow this weekend. I think the last time I checked they were saying 6 to 12 inches.

That’s all now. I hope you have a wonderful day and God bless.

2019

Good morning everyone! Welcome to a new year. Grace made me this beautiful cover for my garden journal. I love it! It makes me happy every time I look at it. I think she is so talented.

For Christmas, Daniel got a membership to Raddish Kids. He made supper for us all last night. (With a little help from Mom) I am so proud of him. He made soup

Bread and cupcakes.

It was all very delicious!

Sam got a membership to Tinker Crate. He made a planetarium (with some help from Dad). I think this monthly membership was a great idea.

My morning place!

We were blessed with another beautiful sunrise the other day. If you look closely you can see the tractor.

Enjoy your day and God bless.
