Christmas 2023

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful day! Grace and I had a really nice Christmas.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NfRmTZqjemc&t=1062s I made Grace this cocoon sweater and fingerless gloves to match. The design is from the above link. I want to make her a hat to match but I have to get more yarn. I think she really liked it.

The rest of Grace’s gifts from me

My gifts from Grace. She made me the cute frog. I named him Walter. She got me beautiful yarn from Premier yarn. I have wanted to try their yarn for a long time. She also got me a $50 gift certificate from Hoss Tools and made the envelope to put the certificate in. I love it all❤

Juicy had a great day as well. He loves all the paper from opening gifts. He is now helping Grace put together her Lego set.

I made a peach pie using the crust recipe I posted yesterday. It turned out really good.

We haven’t got to do our Christmas with the Bates family yet. They are all sick! It felt so strange and sad to not do Christmas eve with them. We always exchange gifts and eat a wonderful meal together on Christmas eve. We are praying they get better quickly.

It is raining this morning and I am sitting out on the glassed in porch crocheting on my newest project and enjoying the sound of the rain on the tin roof.

My boy is keeping me company. God bless!

Bates Tree 2023

After picking out a “sensible” tree, the kids all took a turn cutting it.

John Luke was first,

Then Katie,

Sam,

Then Daniel. The tree proved too much for David’s saw so we had to call in the big guns!

Luckily the tree farm has young boys with chain saws that ride around on 4 wheelers helping cut the tree you pick out. This young man was very nice!

He even asked if they wanted a family picture in front of the tree before he cut it!Great family memories!

God bless!

First Ever Real Tree

Today we went with the Bates crew to get a Christmas tree. Grace surprised me by wanting to get us one!

So much fun!

Juicy was extremely interested in what we were doing!

We got it set up and plan on decorating it tomorrow!

We really like it!

God bless!

Small Loaf Sandwich Bread

3/4 cup water,  2 tbsp oil,   2 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour,   1 tsp salt,   1 tbsp sugar,  1 tsp yeast

Heat water about 20 seconds in microwave. Add yeast and sugar. Stir until yeast and sugar are dissolved. Let sit about 5 min. If using instant rise yeast skip letting it sit.  Add oil, flour and salt. Mix together well. Knead for about 5 to 8 minutes.  Put into small loaf pan. Let rise until double in size about 1 hr.

I am not sure on the bake time for this. Estimated 25 min at 350 degrees.

A Surprise for Daniel

Yesterday Grace and I surprised Daniel with this axe and gloves as a thank you for all his hard work this fall helping us get wood in.

I think we actually completely surprised him, which is very hard to do!

Wood and a Walk

Hello everyone! I hope you have all had a good week so far. Things are good here. We have been enjoying some beautiful fall weather. We got the wood building filled on Monday.

It was a long day!

Grace and I had an excellent helper!

It’s not all work around here though. We also took a beautiful hike.

We are blessed to have so many nice trails close to where we live. This trail is less than 5 minutes from our house!

The colors were absolutely gorgeous!

I hope you all have a wonderful day! God bless!
