Grace’s Apron

Hello everyone!

I spent some time yesterday making this apron for Grace to use in her upcoming painting class. She ask if I would make her one to protect her clothes from paint.

This is my favorite apron pattern. It is so easy to make and the lady’s instructions on how to make it are excellent.  She also has a video on how to make it as well.

Grace really likes it and I think it looks good on her.

God bless!

Electric Canner Update

Hello everyone! I hope all is well with all of you. We are good here. Still cold though. Last nights feels like temperature was -3 when I got up but it is supposed to warm up this coming weekend.

I wanted to give an update on the electric canner. I purchased this canner in July 2023(approximately). I absolutely LOVE it. It makes canning (for me) so much easier. I no longer need to can massive amounts so this canner is perfect for us. It holds 5 qts and 8 pints. It is extremely easy to operate.ย  I don’t have to babysit it like I would stove top canners. It was expensive but in my opinion definitely worth it. I have 4 pints jars of stock canning now as I make this post.

I wanted to share this trellis I saw on a show the other day. I really like this and am thinking about maybe making one or more for the garden.ย  We’ll see how time goes.

I guess that is all for now. God bless!

Snow

Good morning everyone! I hope you have all been having a good week. It has been really cold here this week. We first got snow, then ice and now snow again. I love the snow, not so much the ice.  Our water has froze off and on all week but, as of now, it is all thawed. We are staying warm though as we have lots of wood.
Juicy absolutely loves it when Grace lays down in the floor with him!
https://merryheartcrafts.com/2013/08/04/pizza-crust/ I am making homemade pizza today.  This is my absolute favorite pizza crust recipe. Good friends of ours, the Horns, gave us some deer burger. I fried one package up and added this seasoning mix. I use this Italian sausage seasoning mix a lot. I add it to any type of ground meat. I really like it.
I wanted to share Grace’s latest drawing. I absolutely love it! I have been working on Sam’s poncho this week. It is turning out really nice. I will show a picture of it when I get it finished.

Basic Fruit Quick Bread

Good morning everyone! I hope all is well with you. It has been cold here. Our wind chill is -2. Our hot water is frozen in the bathroom.  Not exactly sure why as we did leave the water dripping in the bathroom and in the kitchen. Hopefully it will thaw out soon๐Ÿ™

Yesterday I was getting frozen peppers from the big freezer and came across some packages of frozen blueberries from our garden. I am making this blueberry bread for breakfast this morning and realized I did not have this recipe on my blog. I wish I could share where I got the recipe from but I do not remember.ย *recipe may need more than 1/2 cup.

Our driveway is still solid ice from the storm. We have not tried to get out yet. Another storm is predicted to come through Friday. We usually take Sam for his allergy shots on Thursday.  I’m hoping we will be able to get out tomorrow to do that.

I guess that’s it. God bless!

Snow and Ice

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a good morning.  Things are good here. We enjoyed a beautiful day of snow yesterday.  Not a lot but it sure was pretty coming down. We got a layer of ice on top of the snow last night so made everything extremely slippery this morning. It is to be expected though as it is January.
My crochet project at this time. Sam requested a poncho. He picked out the colors. Gray and burgundy.  I think it will be really nice when I get it finished.
We have been enjoying some really beautiful sunrise and sunsets. I love them!โค
Time to snuggle in. Candles are lit, fire is going good. Time to crochet, look at seed books and drink some tea!

I hope you have a blessed day!

Christmas Decorating 2024

Today was a super fun day. It started out with a beautiful sunrise!

Later in the day, it was time to decorate for Christmas! The kids came over to help.
It is always so much fun!

Time for lunch

Tree is done!
You will notice,ย  no decorations at the bottom of the tree. Hopefully to keep Juicy from getting in trouble ๐Ÿ˜˜
Our special tree topper, a reminder of the reason for the season. If you look really close at the bottom right corner, you will see another reason why it is special.๐Ÿ’–

All is done! They are upstairs now playing a game! God is good!

Christmas Tree 2024

We had a wonderful time today cutting our Christmas tree! Grace and I are new to this tradition but we love it!
The tree farm is such a beautiful place. The temperature today was just perfect. A little chilly but not too bad.  We had a few flurries this morning and then the sun came out and it was beautiful!
Grace and Sam picked out our tree!
Jess’s tree!
And here is ours.  No lights or decorations yet but it still looks beautiful.  I will update this post after we get it all decorated.  It was a really fun day!

God bless!

Delicious Pork Sandwiches

To a pint jar of canned pork add peppers and onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, fajita seasoning, oregano, and parsley. You can also add cilantro. I added these ingredients to our taste but guessing for the spices about a half teaspoon of each. Feel free to add more or less according to your family’s taste. We don’t like things spicy hot but I did add a few shakes of cayenne powder. You could also use hot peppers but I did not. Salt and pepper to taste. This makes a really good pork sandwich.

Rice Mixes

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v7OUiweaDpA&t=9s

I recently found this youtube channel and have been really enjoying her video. We love flavored rice so I am looking forward to trying these.

Update…I made the chicken rice mix for supper last night. It was way too salty for us. I will change the chicken bouillon to 1 tsp  per cup of rice. Maybe 1 and 1/2 tsp
