I apologize for not posting anything is several days. Things have been a little busy here. Julie is sick with a sore throat and head cold. We took her to the doctor yesterday. Thankfully it is not strep throat. But she feels yucky just the same. Rest and lots of liquids for her. Also we have been doctoring Jasper’s (young dog) paw. He seems to have stepped on somthing and run it through his paw in 3 different places. The first day it happened he just limped, the second day it was swollen 3 times normal size, the third day it bled alot, then finally it has started ( I hope) to improve. The swelling is down, he still can’t put any weight on it, but it looks much better. Of course, he has been allowed to sleep on the enclosed porch, which I am thinking he likes WAY too much. Cold temperatures here-below zero wind chills. Wind gusts of about 60 mph. We had to let the fire go out in the wood stove. It was just too much smoke coming in the house, especially with Julie sick. This is definitely on Hubby’s to-do list to fix this problem this summer.
The pictures are of drifts in our side yard. They are a little darker than I had hoped but you can get the idea anyway. I estimate them to be over 4 ft. Yesterday when we took Julie to the doctor, the main road was pretty bad. 3-4 ft. drifts blocking one side of the road. Lots of places had only 1 lane open. When we came back, the road crews had cleared them. Our road crews have definitely spent a lot of time working this winter. Speaking of work, I guess I better get busy. Take care and God bless.
For those of you who do not have the comfort of a wood fire to enjoy, I thought I would share ours. One of the girls(I’m not sure which one) took this picture. I thought it looked so warm and cozy. Today I cooked chicken and dumplings over that wood fire in my cast iron kettle. YUM! Very cold temperatures this morning made us really appreciate that wood fire. The temperature was around 8 degrees with a below zero wind chill. COLD!!! Today it warmed up to the mid 20’s and the wind has laid down some but it is still very cold. Oh well, I quess it’s that time of year. Today was bible study day here at my home. One of the ladies brought some wild rice soup to share with everyone. Thanks, Barbara. We have about 2 weeks left on our Peter study and then in January we plan to start Beth Moore’s Esther study. We will be taking a 2 week Christmas break. Well I guess I better get some work done. I am working on a quilt. I will try to post a picture when it is finished. God Bless.
Well, I have no picture for today. The time now is 4:30 and the temperature is 35 with rain. I laughingly told the girls we might get snow but now I’m thinking it might really be a possibility. We really haven’t gotten much snow here in the last 6 years just lots of cold and ice. I’d much rather have snow. School has went very well this week so far. 3 chapter tests. They made good grades on them which makes me think they are learning. Tonight is Team Kids at church and handbell practice for them. They really enjoy both. I don’t know if any of you all are familar with Team Kids but it really is a good program. It’s a lot like Awana but does not require as many adult workers so it works well for smaller churches. ( or larger churches with few volunteers!) Every week they meet, have a bible study, game time, snack time, and learn a memory verse. I think it is so important for children to memorize verses. Store His Word in their heart. Important stuff.
Well I quess I need to get moving if we are going to church. We have a fellowship meal at 5:30 and you know I don’t want to miss that. I suppose everyone who reads my blog think all we do at church is eat but we really do study and worship God. The food is just extra. God Bless
