Here’s some pictures taken on the back side of our road.  It is a very beautiful drive.    We’ve been down to Dave and Jess’ for a few days working on the bathroom project.  Making progress.  Commode is set and walls are ready for paint.  Jess hopes to have it ready in time for Thanksgiving.  I think we’ll make it in time.  Temperatures here are nice today.  Upper 60’s.  The sun is shining.  A beautiful fall day.  Dad is home and has suggested a hike on one of the many trials here on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The girls are hurrying to finish school  and get ready for the hike.  It promises to be a really nice afternoon.  I hope everyone enjoys their afternoon as much as I am planning on enjoying mine.  God Bless.

Busy Days

I’m sorry I don’t have a picture to post today.  Things have been very busy around here this week.  We got to have some MawMaw and PawPaw time Tuesday and Wednesday.  Those of you who are grandparents know that takes top priority over everything else.  Daniel’s highlight of his stay was riding around the farm in PawPaw’s truck.   Wednesday night was really nice.   David, Jess, and Daniel went to the fellowship meal with us at church.  Everyone (of course) was tremendously impressed with Daniel.  Thursday morning brought water heater problems.  We replaced both elements and thought our problem was fixed.  We should have known better.  Never does plumbing go that smooth.  We left to have dinner with some friends of ours.  We were blessed to pick some apples at their farm.  We came home and discovered a hugh water leak under the sink.  I mean really under the sink, between the dirt and the floor.  The back part of our house sits directly on the ground so this presented a rather large problem.  MY WONDERFUL HUBBY ( with my help) managed to get this fixed today.  Also I have decided to attempt to sell my crafts at another festival.  This one will be Oct. 3.  This means I have 1 week to get more stuff made.  Today after helping with the plumbing and putting poly on a cabinet we are making for ourselves, I finally got to do some sewing.  I made a set of cloth napkins, 1 apron, and set up 1 lap quilt.  Hopefully I will finish the quilt tomorrow.  It is a Christmas quilt.  I will try to post a picture of it when finished.  Well it is late. I am tired.  God Bless.

Craft pictures

I thought some of you might be wondering about the name of my blog.  I have a small business that I run  out of my home.  I make aprons, lap quilts, crochet dishcloths, afgans, and prayer shawls.  I have made enough  to buy the school books for this year.   I think that’s pretty good.  I have about 50 dishcloths made up to sell but I only have 3 aprons left.  As soon as Hubby gets to repair sewing machine I have to get busy with more aprons and lap quilts.  I enjoyed my long weekend with Jess and family.  We got a lot done.  George and Dave laid the tile on the bathroom floor and Jess and I painted her craft room.  She chose a bright yellow and she is thinking about going with bright red curtains and accessories.  I think it will be gorgeous.  I love yellow walls.  It makes the entire room so cheerful.  I also got lots of MawMaw hugs and a few kisses.  He’s stingy with his kisses.  Jasper (our puppy) had lots of play time with his brother, Buddy ( Daniel’s puppy).  It’s getting time to cook supper so I guess I’ll have to come up with some ideas.  Tomorrow I think I might try to can our beets.  I’ll post pictures if I do.  God Bless.

Geese

Fall must be quickly approaching Floyd.  The geese are back.  Lots of geese.  We counted at least 40 this morning on our pond.  They are very interesting to watch however they are quite loud.  I haven’t posted anything in a day or so as we have been really busy.  We went back to Jess on Monday and worked more on her bathroom.  It is started to look more like a bathroom now.    We were planning on going back tomorrow but they all have a cold so I think we will just stay here.  We went on a picnic today with good friends of ours at a little park here on the parkway.  We took the puppy so all the kids had a great time playing together(especially the puppy)100_2043

I wanted to show you this strange cucumber(yes it is a cucumber)  I raised it on the back porch in a large pot.  The plant did fairly well but this one is pretty strange.  I put some tomatoes and cucumbers in pots this year.  They did okay but required me to remember to water and I am not really good at this.  All in all though it was a good experiment.  Night has fallen here on the farm.  Katydids and crickets are making a joyful noise unto the Lord.  I think I will go out on my swing and enjoy.

New Dog

I must be getting soft in my old age.  What was I thinking?  We went to visit my oldest daughter this weekend.  She wanted to get our grandson a puppy.  We found some free and I suppose Dad and I gave in to the excitement of the moment and brought this guy home.  He completely enjoyed the ride home(over 1 hour) in Julie’s lap so I suppose this means he likes to ride.  He is lab and shepherd mix.  We already have 1 large dog (chow and retriever mix)100_2010

He is an excellent farm dog and we want him to train Jasper to be a good dog also.   Other than the puppy we also got some new clothes  for the girls while shopping with Jess.  Dad and David did some more remodel on Dave’s bathroom.  Walls are sheetrocked and shower stall is built.  Pictures of this can be found on Dave’s blog www.dlbates.com.  We also received some much needed MawMaw and PawPaw time.    I wanted to let everyone know my husband also has a blog he has started working on www.gdjg55.com.  Check  it   out.
