Fairystone Park

Yesterday we met Dave, Jess and kids at Fairystone Park for a picnic and a fun day out.  We have lived here in Floyd for almost 13 years.  This state park is just about 40 minutes from our house.  I have no idea why we have never been to it before.   We all had a great time.  We had grilled chicken, mac and cheese, potato salad, pork and beans, and a green salad.  Delicious!!

Can you guess what we had for dessert?

While Dave, Jess, Daniel, Sam, Julie, and Grace spent all day in the water, Pawpaw and MawMaw had the “hard” job of watching Katie.  She sure is growing.

We all had a great time and definitely want to go again.  Enjoy your day and God bless.

Egg Hunt

Yesterday we went down to Jessica’s to celebrate Easter with them.  We enjoyed a great meal of honey baked ham and turkey, potato salad, green beans, potatoes, baked beans, deviled eggs and several different types of dessert.  After we ate, the kids were ready to hunt eggs.  I think the look on Sam’s face says it all.

On the way back home we stopped at this little spot on the parkway.  Grace wanted to get a few pictures.

I have forgotten the name of this little spot but I think it was a grist mill at one time.

Grace and Julie.  It’s not very often I get a picture of them together.  We then went for a little walk down to the creek.  It was very pretty.

Enjoy your day and God bless.

New Wall Colors

This is the new color of the old laundry room.  The trim is white and the door is antique white.  Hubby has to finish the trim and then it will be all done.  He is also working on painting the bathroom.

The inside wall of the old laundry room is the original outside of the house.  Jess had this paint left over from her bedroom.  I think it looks very good on this wall.  I wish I could figure out a way to take a picture that would show how it looks all together but it is a work in progress.  Hubby will paint the trim today.   After that we plan on going over to a friends house for a visit and a haircut.

Temperatures here are very nice.  It was 42 degrees when we got up this morning.   We decided to let the fire go out today.  YEAH!  That always makes me feel a little “springy”.    I have clothes to hang on the line (of course).  Don’t we always have laundry?

I changed my supper menu last night to fried chicken, potato salad and green beans.  It was so nice and warm.  It reminded me of picnic days.  Tonights menu will be chicken stir fry with egg rolls.  I fried enough chicken last night to have left over for tonight.  I like to do that.  It makes the cooking a little easier and faster if I the meat is cooked in advance.

Time to hang my clothes outside and listen to a little praise music from our birds.  They are starting to sing such beautiful spring songs.  Enjoy your day and God bless.

Geese are back

What are beautiful sight!  The geese are back.  They look so pretty on the pond with the sun shining on them.  We heard our first frogs peeping Saturday night.  Spring is on its way.  I will be posting pictures this week of other signs of Spring.  I am sooooooooo glad.  Yesterday was a good day.  Pastor Tom had a good message, then we had a team leaders meeting afterward.  Our Sunday School Director retired and George accepted the position.  We really have no idea what his duties will be as of it but I’m sure we will learn as we go.  Last night’s menu at church included a hamburger casserole, baked beans, potato salad, pretzels and dip, a peach jello salad, and brownies.  I took something no one from church had ate before, pickled corn.  It was a success.   Most seemed to like it.  I guess its kinda like kraut, you either like it or you don’t, not much in- between ground.    Today will be school as usual.  Tomorrow both girls have eye doctor appointments.  We plan to leave early in the morning so as to do some shopping for shoes.  Recital is this Sunday.  I hope to hang clothes on the line today.  It  gives me an opportunity to be outside, plus saves us money.  Temperature is supposed to get in the upper 40’s today.  Things are drying up from all the melting snow.   It will soon be time to start preparing the garden for summer.  I get excited just thinking about all this.  Well it is time to begin working.  Take care and God bless.
