A Good Day’s Work

Today was a busy day but we got a lot accomplished.  First, we mowed the yard.  It was definitely in need of mowing.  Then we ate lunch and started putting together the new rabbit hutch.

It was very easy to put together which made us happy.

Then we started taking down the rabbit lot to move it.  When the rabbits were first put in here it worked well for them however the bushes and trees have grown since then making it was an extremely tight fit now.

George made the two hutches for Julie last year however her newest rabbit didn’t have a Dad-made hutch so she had to buy one.

Doesn’t she look so cute in her new home.

One of Julie’s male rabbits.  The other one was being shy and wouldn’t come out for me to take his picture.

Here they are all in their new home.  Doesn’t it look so much better.  Lots more room.
“Helping” is such hard work.

Well that’s all for now.  Time for showers and supper.  Enjoy your evening and God bless.

Vacation

Last week we were blessed to go on vacation with our friends, the Horns.  We went to Gatlinburg.

We stayed in this cabin.  It was very nice. Thanks again, Quentin. We went down on Wednesday.   The first thing we did was divide and conquer.  Julie went with the Horns to Dollywood and Grace and I went to the aquarium.  We had a great time.

Grace petting a jellyfish.  She said it felt weird.

The next day we all went to the Christmas place.  It was beautiful.

So much to see.

Next we walked down to the river for a little rest.

After lunch we rode up on the mountain.

It was so pretty there.

We could see some of the places damaged by the fire.

The next day we came home.  We stopped at a few places on the way home.  The knife works place, Bass Pro Shop and Cabellas.  On Saturday we went to the Grayson Highlands Festival and were disappointed to discover no molasses this year.  Very sad.  Other than that it was a good festival day.  A few more pictures of the girls and me.

That’s all.  Enjoy your day and God bless.

Good Morning

Hello everyone.  I hope you are all having a good morning.  Things have been keeping us busy here.  But no matter how busy, it is always good to take the time to see the beauty of God’s creation.

One of the things we have been busy with is apples.  Yes, it is that time of year.  I love it!

I made some apple muffins.  I used the recipe on my blog for blueberry muffins and just changed it up some.  I added cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and allspice.  I also have made some pumpkin muffins.

Making apple butter today.  The recipe I use is on the blog too.  Check out my spoon.  One of the things I miss.  I remember so well the day I said to George “I wish I had a long handled sturdy wooden spoon for stirring apple butter and such”.  Two days later he hands me this spoon he made.  Good memories.

Spent some time with Jess taking these three to the dentist.  They are definitely growing up.

Dave has been working on plumbing at their house.  He went to get some supplies he needed and got an excellent deal on a fridge. We go to pick it up and the guy loads it on the truck with a fork lift.  I am sitting in the truck thinking WOW it is really big.  The guy says to Dave I hope you have a lot of help unloading this beast.  Dave says “I do, her” and points to me.  To make a long story short, we loaded it in the truck at 6.  We finished getting it in the house and set up at midnight. Oh, the adventures of Dave and Donna.

I guess that’s about all for now.  I hope u have a good week and God bless.

Teddy Bear Sunflowers

Grace’s teddy bear sunflowers are blooming.  They are very pretty.   We have been waiting on them all summer.  We definitely want to save seeds from them to plant more next year.

It has been a busy week, as usual.  I did however stain another swing, the big picnic table and benches and the round picnic table and chairs.  I think they look really good.  I am very happy with the stain color.

So Thursday we finally got an answer to the big question that has been on everyone’s mind since this little sweet boy came into our lives.  John Luke has always been just a little bit different .  Slow to sit up, slow to crawl, to walk.  After many doctors appointments, many specialists, we finally know.  John Luke has been diagnosed with stage 1 cerebral palsy with global delays.   He will be doing physical, occupational and speech therapy.   Now we have a diagnosis and a plan of attack.  God is good.

On a lighter note, I made my first batch of pumpkin spice muffins this week.  It is starting to feel like fall here.  Temperatures in the lower 40’s at night.  I love it!

Grace found a great deal on these colored pencils on Amazon.  This same set cost about $300 at other art stores.  She got them for $60

She checked this book out from the library so she could practice more bird drawings.

Well that’s about it for now.  I hope you have a great weekend and God bless.

Pandapas Pond

Saturday we took a little trip to Pandapas Pond.  It is a really nice pond with walk trails just a little past Blacksburg.

The main reason for going there though was to meet up with Chuck and his family.  It is kinda in the middle between his house and ours so it is a good meeting place.  We enjoyed a picnic lunch of fried chicken, macaroni salad and spice cake.

After we ate, we walked around the pond.

We saw this beaver trail.

It was a fun day.  A little chilly but not bad, just enough to remind us fall is coming.  I love fall!  God bless.
