Fall

I love fall!

I thought I would share a few fall colors with you all.

I love this picture of Dave and Jess!

We had a Halloween party at Jess’s on Sunday. It was a lot of fun. They had all been sick so we hadn’t been able to get together for weeks. Jess always makes parties fun.

God bless.

Monday

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a good Monday.

I have something I want to share with you all. I’m sure some of you may have realized that the Jekyll trip was another huge “first ” for us. Our first trip there without Julie. It was hard without her but many new, happy memories were made!

Many years ago, I saw a picture of a plague on Facebook. I have remembered it many times since then. The plaque said something like this-“on my darkest days I remember whose daughter I am and I straighten my crown”.

The Lord brought this quote to my mind just a few days before we left on our trip. I had definitely prayed a lot about this trip.

As soon as we got there and unloaded the car, our first place to go was Driftwood beach. While we were walking, something shiny in the sand caught my eye.

Now I know to many this is just a necklace but to me it was hope. A visual reminder to help me in this hard time. I walked the beach every morning watching Him raise the sun. I talked, He listened. He talked, I listened.

On that first morning when I stepped onto the beach and saw the sun peeking over the water, I thought, ok Lord, this is me attempting to straighten my crown.

I realize the death of a child is something a person never gets through. It is a place I will walk in the rest of my days here on this earth. I will try though with God’s help, the help of my family and friends to walk in this place with my crown straight.

I plan on hanging the necklace on the wall beside my bed to help me remember that God is with me in this. That I am His and He is mine.

I realize this post is not a normal post for me but I wanted to share this. I am not good with expressing my feelings in words but I wanted to try.

Enjoy your day and God bless.

Jekyll Sunrises

I have so many beautiful sunrise pictures!

I decided to just put some of them into one post.

They were all amazing.

I probably can’t put into words how sunrises make me feel. They make me feel special, privileged to see such glory.

And in my opinion, sunrises at the beach are just extra special.

If you look closely in this picture, you can see Grace taking her last sunrise pictures of this trip.

I love this picture! It is the last picture of the trip. But what makes it so special to me is this. Grace called me down to where she was on the beach and said “It’s so pretty this morning, I thought you might want to take a selfie”. Why yes, sweet girl, I do!!

God bless.

More Jekyll

We spent Thursday morning collecting shells.

Then we went to the historic section.

Such beautiful old homes there!

We enjoy going in all the old shops and looking around. Mostly tourist stuff. We do always go to the candy shop and get a piece of homemade candy. My sweet Julie loved Turtle candy. It was hard but I got a piece and ate it just for her.

We then went to the turtle center. This is one of Grace’s favorite places to go. We didn’t go into the hospital section though as it was almost time for them to close when we got there.

After that we went back to Driftwood.

It was so pretty with the tide coming in!

We so love this place!

God bless.

Driftwood Beach

Driftwood beach is our favorite place to go.

We spend a lot of our time here.

I love this picture of Grace. I think it is my favorite so far of this trip.

We stayed at Driftwood all morning Tuesday then went back to the rental house and ate lunch.

We have had so much fun on this trip. I am so thankful we got to come.

We decided after lunch to go to the Clam Creek picnic area. We went out on the pier and I took a picture of the big bridge.

We didn’t get to walk the trail though as it started raining. So we just came back to the house. It was time to eat supper by then anyway. We did the trail the next day.

God bless.

Trail at Dairy Queen

Another one of our favorite walking trails is the one behind Dairy Queen. It is such a pretty walk.

We did this trail late afternoon yesterday. At first, I thought we might not see much activity but I was definitely wrong. The following four pictures are just a few Grace took along our walk.

We saw this beautiful buck. First time, for us, ever seeing a buck this size antlers here.

We also saw a woodpecker,

This beautiful eagle. I didn’t even know eagles were here on the island.

And this awesome bird. He is an Anhinga. They are here during breeding season. He posed so nicely for Grace. We saw three different ones of them. They were at the little pond where the alligator lives. We didn’t see the alligator though.

God bless.

Clam Creek Nature Trail

We started off our morning by going to Clam Creek nature trail.

I love to watch these little crabs scamper off.

There are a few flowers still blooming here.

Another one of my favorite pictures of the trip. If you look at the right of the picture, you can see a white bird. Grace is getting a picture of it.

We really enjoy this trail.

God bless.

Good Morning

Guess where we are!!! Ok, I know the picture gave it away but Grace and I are at Jekyll Island.❤

We drove down yesterday. It took us about 10 hours to get here. We ordered our groceries at Walmart and used the pickup service. So unless we want to, we do have to leave the island until Friday morning when we start home!

We got to the rental house about 4:30. We unloaded the car, ate supper and headed to one of our favorite places-Driftwood Beach. Sorry my pictures aren’t the best. It was already getting dark by the time we got there.

The beach was as pretty as ever. There are some changes from hurricane damage but to Grace and I it looked beautiful.

Hopefully I will have lots of pictures to share with you all. At this moment, it is early morning of our first day here. It is raining and very humid outside. We brought umbrellas just in case it did rain. After today though the forecast looks sunny and nice.

Grace and I have been talking about this trip for a long time. We LOVE this place!

Thank you, Lord!

Hello

Good morning everyone! I hope all is well with you. It seems like it has been a while since I made a post. We have been busy with just ordinary stuff. Grace is going to the GED class two days a week. She is doing really well with them and she says they are a lot of fun.

She has also been participating in Inktober again this year. These are a couple of her drawings.

I think she has amazing talent.

We have also been having regular visits from these guys.

Aren’t they beautiful!!

I have been making a few more crochet items. I think this shawl turned out really nice.

I made this shawl for Jessica. I had never made anything with a hood on it. It was a lot of fun.

It was going to be her Christmas gift but I decided to give it to her now. She is putting it to good use already. Daniel has told me he would like me to make him one. We will be going soon to Michael’s to pick out his yarn.

One of the seed companies I order from (Migardener) offered these grab bags for sale. 30 packets of seeds for only $10. I was very excited to get these.

Our temperatures have dropped drastically here so last night I built our first fire of the season. It felt really good. The temperature in the house was upper 50’s so it definitely was time.

That’s about all for now. I hope everyone has a good day and God bless.
