Good morning everyone! I hope you have all had a good week. Things have been good here. Grace and I went to Big Town (Christiansburg) this past week. One of the places I wanted to go was Dollar Tree. They already have their seeds out. Just look at all these seeds I got. All for $7.00! I also got 2 pair of garden gloves. They were $1.25 each.
Another thing I got was all this yarn. I love this yarn. It is very soft and very easy to work with. I got this yarn for making hats.
We ended the day with a treat. Grace had got a Starbucks gift card for Christmas so she got us both a drink. Caramel Ribbon Crunch! Our favorite!
Good morning everyone! I am making something for breakfast that I haven’t made in a long time. You guessed it, blueberry scones! Clearly I need to work on what 8 equal pieces looks like!๐
Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a good day. We are enjoying some rain this morning with temperatures in the upper 30’s. It’s a nice cozy day. I have a good fire going and a crochet project I am working.
As you can tell from the picture, I am starting to get in some of the seeds I have ordered. I probably could have just used the seeds I already have but I really like to try new (to me) seeds. In the above picture, both broccoli are new to me, both peppers and the red cabbage!
In this picture, the Mizuna is new to me. I have no idea what it is or how to eat it. It is a free seed packet from Baker Creek. I have attempted to grow the sugar rush peach peppers before. I wasn’t too successful but I want to try again. I want to make peach hot sauce for Jess and her family.
Years ago, I bought a lovage plant at a farmers market. I had it for years before it died. It tastes like celery. I am not a huge fan of celery but I look forward to having this plant again. I plan of drying the leaves and making a powder from them. I think I will also try making a salt from them. Hopefully that will be like celery salt. We’ll see!
Next, the blue cream cherry tomatoes are new to me. I LOVE trying new varieties of cherry tomatoes. These look delicious!
I have another order placed that I will share with you all when it comes in. I also want to go to our local dollar tree. They have their seeds in already. For those of you that do not know, Dollar stores have a good selection of basic seeds for a really good price.
That’s all for now. I’m going to enjoy my tea and listen to the rain on my roof. God bless!
Good morning everyone! I hope you have been enjoying your week so far. Things have been good here. Not too cold. I took some time yesterday and cleaned out the rabbit hutches and the chicken house. It feels good to get that done.
Jess and I are doing something new to us. We are making homemade vanilla. I have wanted to do this for several years and just never got around to doing it. I hope it works. Thanks Dave and Jess for providing the supplies. I followed Ina Garten’s recipe https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DcCm11Pp9rs
It is supposed to be nice today with a high of about 60 degrees. I may work some up in the garden. We’ll see. Jess and I are going to Sam’s club after she finishes school.
I finished this scarf this morning. It is a C2C stitch. I really like this stitch. It works up fast and I think looks very good. I am thinking of doing a lapghan using this stitch. I followed this tutorial. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PYAVCDASo4M&t=1908s
That’s all for now, I guess. I hope you have a great day. God bless!
Good morning everyone! I hope your week has been good! Things are good here. It’s a little chilly this morning but the sun is shining and it promises to be a beautiful day.
As you can tell by the picture, I am looking forward to our 2023 growing season. I went with Dave yesterday to do some work on the Madison house. We (as always) went to Lowes. They had some seed packages out. Dave bought me these two packages. I have a few other seeds coming in the mail from https://migardener.com/ They have very good seeds at a very affordable price. We went to the Dollar Tree but they didn’t have their seeds out yet.๐ช
I already have my seed starting mix. I ordered it from https://www.homedepot.com/ I really like this mix. It is my favorite to use.
On a different subject, this is my latest finished crochet project. This poncho and hat is for me. The hat is a little too big so I need to work on it some but I really like it. The poncho is very nice and warm. The tutorial is from Bag O Day’s https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qrEFd80Vn-U poncho.
Hello everyone! So yesterday I decided to tackle a corner of my living room that was in bad need of an update. I love how it looks!
This is how it looked about half through. As is typical for me, I forgot to do a before picture but you can get the idea from this one. The end result is definitely an improvement!
I spent some more time up in the garden this morning and weeded another raised bed. It feels so good to play in the dirt and be making progress toward our next garden.
Grace and I had a little get together with our friends the Horns the other day. Weather here has been amazing for the last few days so we decided after our little get together to do a little walk.
We walked one of our favorite trails.
It is such a beautiful trail and it leads down to the river.
It felt so good to get out and enjoy the nice weather and get some exercise as well.
Another thing I have been enjoying outside is getting some garden work done. I’ve been working on cleaning out some of the raised beds. As you can see, one is cleaned out and the other one really needs cleaning out๐ I’ve also been doing some planning on how I want to do the garden this year. Maybe some changes.
I hope you all have a wonderful week and get to enjoy some outside time as well. God bless!
