Rose Bush, Rain and Garden Update

Good morning everyone! For those of you who have been reading my blog for any length of time, you know how much we love this rose bush. When we first moved here 16 years ago, it was already here. It was in need of some love and attention. We have given it that. We worked and worked to get it started climbing up this tree. Now it seems like every year it grows a little higher. We think it is beautiful!

After weeks of no measurable rain at my house, this is a wonderful sight. As I am making this post, I am sitting on our glassed in front porch listening to the sound of gentle rain on our tin roof. Blessings from God!

I have been enjoying my little firepit. It is the perfect size for me. I build a small fire almost every morning to drink my coffee by. I have decided I am a morning campfire girl.

Also a few garden pictures.

I really love how it is started to look. I do have more ideas of things I want to do but it is coming along nicely.

The blueberries bushes are loaded with blueberries. Now if we can just beat the birds to the ripe ones.

A little baby cucumber! We have been enjoying salads, green onions, peas and a few squash from the garden already. I love fresh veggies.

I have watered my garden by hand every day for weeks. I am SO thankful for the rain today. The rain the Good Lord sends always makes everything just jump to life.

Enjoy your day and God bless.

Baby Gate

So yesterday while we were picnicking and having fun, Dave started this project. This is John Luke’s old gate that keeps him contained in the living room when needed. He is still not super steady on his feet and definitely can’t manage stairs without help. The old one was coming apart so …Dave built him a new one using old decking materials. I got to help him with the middle gate today. I think it looks awesome! Some of his other helpers. Also Daniel made this beautiful shelf for his mom to put flower pots on.He did it all himself including cutting the boards with a hand saw.Great job, Daniel!I hope you all have a good day and God bless.

Bub’s Graduation

Yesterday we went with the Horns to celebrate Bub’s graduation. We went to Flag Rock park which is close to where Vicki was raised. It was so beautiful .We rode up to the top of the mountain to visit this place.Absolutely beautiful views!Beautiful rock formations. We had a great day,Got lots of great pictures,Grace got to hold a baby rat,And spent time with great friends.I can count on one hand the women in my life that I consider true friends. This lady is one of them.God is good!

Beauty

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a good week. We have been busy around here. Over Memorial Day weekend, Dave and I worked on putting in a shower for his mom. I’ll tell you more about that in another post. We are not finished with it yet.We certainly have been having some pretty skies lately.A beautiful rainbow!Things have been kinda dry here but we did get some much needed rain yesterday. In the left of the picture, you can see the rain coming toward us. I am so glad I didn’t have to water the garden.Speaking of the garden, a few of the cucumbers are starting to bloom. Some of the squash. We actually had our first squash with supper yesterday. These irises were so pretty this year. The rose bush is in full bloom,And these beautiful yellow roses!I thank God that He brought me and my family here to live. It is such a beautiful place.God bless.

Garden Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend.

I thought I would share a few garden pictures.

Everything is growing very well so far. These are two of the different types of squash I am growing this year.

This is a something called a patio tomato. They are supposed to be good to grow in containers or baskets. It is looking good so far.

We have been harvesting salad things for a good while now. Check out the pretty purple radishes. Fresh salads almost every day. Yum!

My friend Vicki came over Saturday and we finished putting down all the mulch. Well all until I buy more. I absolutely LOVE how the garden is looking.

While the Horns were here, we also burned the huge brush pile from the catawba tree we cut down earlier in the spring. It looks so much better in the field with it gone.

Yesterday, I went with Jess and family to get this girl a new bike. She loves to ride and her old bike had to be replaced due to much use. She picked this one out and, of course, a new helmet to match.

We also got the supplies needed to build this firepit at their house. I think it turned out really nice.

Everything is so green now. This is a picture of our driveway. I love how it looks when it is freshly mowed.

And last, we have had a beautiful moon the last few days.

God bless.

Jam

Today we made strawberry jam at Jess’s.

We used a different (to us) recipe using honey as the sweetener instead of sugar.

I think it tastes really good and looks so pretty in the jar.

I took this picture the other day. I really like how it looks, showing the swing and arbor in the background.

That’s all for now. I hope you all have a good evening and God bless.

Strawberry Picking

Grace and I took the kiddos strawberry picking yesterday. It was a little chilly but not too bad. Our jackets soon came off when we started picking.Of course, no outing would be complete without pizza! We also had kinder joy eggs for a special treat. It was a great day packed full of happy memories. God bless!

Mother’s Day

Vicki came over yesterday and helped me put down mulch in the garden.

We got a lot done!

The picture doesn’t show it really well but if you look close you can see the solar lights on the arched trellis. I think they look really pretty.

Grace got me this toaster oven for mother’s day. She completely surprised me with it. I love it!. I also got a new bible from Jess, a carved soap from Daniel, handmade cards from Katie, Sam and John Luke. David took us all out to eat at this really nice restaurant in town.

John Luke had to take a rest during the meal!

I think that’s about all for now. Enjoy your week and God bless.

A Good Days Work

Hello everyone! Look at these beautiful arbors. I want to thank Dave for all his help building these.I love them!We put up solar lights on this arched trellis after I took the picture. I can’t wait to see how it looks at night. We also had a beautiful rainbow yesterday. God bless.

Happy Monday

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

I spent some time last week working on garden things. I filled up these raised beds with dirt.

I am looking forward to planting beans in them today.

I have also been filling up some pots with different things. The middle pots are a new squash I am trying and the outer pots are flowers. I think they will look pretty.

These two hanging baskets contain patio tomatoes. I have never grown those before either. Hopefully they will do good.

The pots on this bench are squash as well. I will be putting more pots on here. I’m thinking of cucumbers maybe and some more flowers. I’m not sure how all these containers will work for me. I think they will give much more produce but also will require me to keep up with watering them. We’ll see how it goes.

We were blessed with this wonderful gift. Our friends, Richard and Brenda got us this beautiful apple tree.

Grace has been busy doing some art work.

I think they are so good.

Enjoy your week and God bless.
