Bisset Park

The girls and I went to Radford yesterday after church.   We went to Rural King to get a cooking grate for our campfire.  After that we spent some time at Goodwill then did a picnic lunch at Bisset Park.  It is a beautiful place down next to the river.  They had a memorial set up for the veterans.  It was very nice.

After that we decided to take a little hike.  They have great trails there.  We all agreed the trail we were on reminded us of trails on Jekyll Island.

One of the things we saw was this tree.  It had this hollow place in it so you know we had to go inside.

Then of course, we had to take pictures.

Here are few more pictures I took along the way.

Quite a few sycamore trees in the park.  A tree you hardly ever see in Floyd.

Our canopy overhead while we walked.

It was a very nice little walk and we hope to do it again soon.

Oh yes, this is the cooking grate we went to get.  We had bought the triangle thing on a previous visit to Rural King.  I saw the cooking grate then and wanted one.  The girls went in together and bought it for us.

That’s all for now.  I hope you have a great day and God bless.

Fun Day

The girls and I had a FUN day yesterday.  We had first planned to work on one of our outside buildings.  More details on that later.  Anyway, instead of working we decided to just do something fun.  The first place we went was A C Moore.  It is a art and craft store.  If you have one in your area we highly recommend it.

Grace has been wanting to learn how to paint with watercolors.   She has been saving her money from odd jobs to purchase what she needed.  Yesterday she got all these supplies.  They had books there on how to learn to watercolor but she wants to check the library first.

Eating out at a place we never eat at.  Olive Garden.  Thanks Steve and Bev for the gift certificate! After that the girls spent some time in Toys R Us and I went to Lifeway Christian store.  Of course no trip to town is complete without the dreaded Wal-Mart stop.  It was only a few minutes stop though as we only needed a few things.

I want to end this post with happy birthday wishes to this beautiful woman.  My daughter Jessica.  She is the glue that holds together her wonderful family.  I apologize for the quality of this picture.  I didn’t have the picture in my phone so I had to take a picture of a picture.  However I knew it was the one I wanted to use.  When I look at her in this picture I can see and feel the happiness and joy in her life.  It seems to me to be radiating from her.  I love that.  GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!

Sun Room

This is a picture of our sunroom.  We love this porch.  I’m sure some of you may remember it.  I talk about it a lot and spend a lot of time here.  We have did a lot of work out here this spring hoping to make it look better.  The curtains really keep out a lot of the heat.   Here is a post from several years ago if you want to read more about it.  /www.merryheartcrafts.com/2011/03/25/project/
These plants are sitting inside the cradle Hubby made many years.   I wasn’t sure how to repurpose it but I think it looks great here on the porch.

He also made the aidarondack chairs.  My friend Retia helped me made the ottoman.  It was her idea.  It is an old wooden crate we had in one of the buildings.  I painted it red and then we tied the cushion to it.  It is so soft and comfortable.  It’s like putting my feet on a cloud.  I love it.

Well that’s all for now.  The girls and I have a fun day out planned.  God bless.

Baby Chicks

A picture of our baby chicks.  They are no longer babies however I think they will be very pretty hens.  We got them at Rural King.  It is new to this area.  We really like going there.  We got these for .99 cents each because they were already a week old.  They needed to move these out to make room for a new delivery. And yes that is my shadow!

The girls and I made this coop.  We are pretty satisfied with how it turned out.    It solved two issues.  The baby chicks needed a place to be and the camper top is getting used.

Then one of Grace’s ducks hatched off baby ducks.  We were all so happy.  We built another coop along the same design as the other one.  We made one big mistake though.  We used chicken wire.  I had no idea an animal could chew through chicken wire but something did.  It got her baby ducks.  So sad.  I am pretty positive it was a weasel.

I will leave you all with this pretty cloud picture I took the other evening.  God is so good!

Hello everyone.  I thought I would share a few garden pictures today.  I took most of these pictures sitting in this bench George made for us several years ago.  It is one of my favorite sitting places.  Of course, I have MANY favorite sitting places.
I want to get an apple tree to put next to it. That way we would have shade and fruit. I like that idea.
The girls and I have been working hard at trying to make the garden look cute and be productive at the same time.  We built 5 raised beds and added them to the upper garden.  We added an arch for cantelope and watermelon to run on.  We are hoping that by keeping them off the ground maybe the bugs won’t eat them up.  We also put several trellises in the beds for things like beans and cucumbers to run up.  We are trying to take advantage of all our space.

Just another garden picture.  The lower garden has no beds in it yet.  We planted beans and corn in it.
These are scarlet runner beans.  I have never planted them before but the blooms are very pretty.
Our tomatoes.  We love using these cattle panels.

Our row of flowers at the edge of the garden. They seem to be growing nicely. I can’t wait until they start blooming. Hopefully they will be pretty.
I took these pictures this morning when I went up to pick these.  We will be having blueberry cobbler with supper.

That’s it for now.  I hope you have nice day and God bless.

I’m Back

Hello everyone!  I’m back to blogging.  I am very happy.  Dave taught me how to make posts and put pictures  on from my phone.

I took this picture at the top of the hill above our house.  We have been enjoying cooler temperatures here and I love it.  It makes for really nice sleeping.

Well that’s all for my first post.  I hope you all have a great night and God bless.

Spring is Coming

20160404_112015Look how pretty our rhubarb is!  Soon we will be having rhubarb dumplings.  Maybe next week, Jess?

20160404_111946This is our early spring bed.  Everything is coming along nicely.  Soon we will be enjoying fresh greens.  I love it!

Enjoy your day and God bless.

Caramel frappuccino

1/2 cup cold strong coffee, 3 Tablespoons sugar, 1 cup milk, 2 cups ice, 3 Tablespoons caramel sundae syrup or caramel coffee syrup. In a blender, blend until ice is crushed and smooth. Top with whip cream and a drizzle of caramel sundae syrup. Maked 2 large drinks.  *I used heavy whipping cream instead of milk and honey in place of the sugar.*

I got this recipe from a comment on this blog left by a lady named Brenda Putman http://www.littlehouseliving.com/cheap-starbucks-ice-cream-and.html

Colts Foot

20160228_131240Our first colts foot that we have spotted for the year.  Isn’t it beautiful?  These cheerful little blooms will soon be everywhere.

Today has been absolutely wonderful.  The temperature was low 60’s, tons of sunshine.  We enjoyed a cookout at Jessica’s.  Our first one at their new home.  We had chicken on the grill, corn on the cob, macaroni salad and homemade bread.  Fun times!!

I hope you all have a great day and God bless.

Another Beach Picture

IMG_1834I will be posting a lot of these beach pictures.  As I am sure you all can guess, I have quite a few of them.  In this picture, Grace is working on taking a picture of a bug.  I just can’t tell you all how much we really enjoyed that trip.  We are SO looking forward to going back soon.

Hubby is starting a new round of chemo, a totally different type for us.  He is seriously broken out with a rash which we thought was not good.  Yesterday at the doctor’s office though she practically did a happy dance when she saw him.  She said the more severe the rash, the better the medicine is working.  Who knew!  I think Hubby wishes it would really work without the having the rash but it is what it is.

Tomorrow is church day and I hope you all have blessed Sunday.
