Am I Cute?

This is one of our new kitties. You may remember there are 3 of them. The other two were being shy. This one the girls call Fuzzy Wuzzy. I wonder why. He is so chubby and fuzzy he waddles when he walks. Very cute.

Today has been a beautiful day here in Floyd. All week has been really, really nice. The mornings have been pretty chilly-mid 20’s. The days however have warmed up nicely with lots of sunshine-low 60’s. Amazing! We have hung our clothes outside on the line all week. How good is that! Almost mid November and this warm. I like it.

Today was ladies bible study day. We finished our study on Ruth. Our next study will be on Women Who Believed God. It looks like it will be a very good study. I always love starting a new study. I think it is so exciting. I can hardly wait to see what the Lord will reveal to us.

Mr. Squirrel

This little guy was playing hide and seek yesterday while we were at the park. Hubby kept trying to get his picture and he would run away. It was kinda fun trying to catch him in a good pose. Finally, he just gave up and took the shot. I think it turned out good. This question is for Jess-Do you think this could be the one? (It’s a long standing family joke)

The sun is beginning to shine today so maybe we are done with the rainy, dreary days for a while. I really want to hang my clothes outside today. I have them in the machine in hopes of getting them out before the sun decides to hide behind the clouds. Today we will be doing school, as usual, cleaning the house for bible study tomorrow, and hopefully finishes another sack of apples. So I guess I’d better get busy. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Pretty Blue Flowers

This pretty little stream runs through one of the fields below our house. A few blue flowers are still holding on. Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Floyd. Today however we may get some rain. Pretty windy and overcast. The pastors sermon yesterday was on David and Goliath and facing the giants in our own life. It was an excellent sermon. Last nights menu was mostly leftovers from the “critter chompin”. We had a cornbeard casserole, potato cakes, green beans, baked beans, fresh homemade bread, chips and dip, and cake. We always eat sooooo good!

Today, hopefully, we will get some more of our apples worked up, along with school. I am doing laundry but it will have to be dried inside-so sad. I really miss hanging clothes outside. I think they smell so good. Well, I better get busy. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Young Farmer

I thought this was such a cute picture. This young man had just been out to the barn with our pastor. He spent some time sitting on the tractor and then they were on their way back to the house. They both look very content. Simple things in life seem to bring the most contentment.

Yesterday was rainy and foggy here. Very dense fog. Temperatures were still in the mid 50’s. The sun is shining this morning and it promises to be a nice day. Hopefully, we will get to hang our clothes on the line today to dry.

Today has been a nice day here in Floyd. Rather warm for this time of year. Mid 80’s. Beautiful sunshine. One of those days that I just love. I have clothes on the line drying, school has went very well and my house is “relatively” clean. (okay, so we’re still working on the house part) Overall, just a wonderful day. Thank you, Jesus!

Update on Repairs

I have no pictures to post today as I forgot the camera at Jessica’s. The girls and I came home to check on everything and wash some more clothes. We are leaving this morning to go back down. Hubby stayed at Jessica’s so he could get the drywall hung on the ceiling after David got in from work. They decided since the damage was so major they should just redo the entire laundry room. A redo was on the to-do list anyway. This just speeding it up a little.

Saturday was Daniel’s birthday party day. We had lots of fun. I have pictures of his party on my camera. I will post those next time, if I don’t forget my camera again. Well, I just wanted to let you all know where we where on the repairs. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Butterfly Paradise

This is a picture of our butterfly bush and our rose of sharon. I think this is a very pretty spot in our yard. The butterflies and the hummingbirds really love this area so there is always lots of activity here.

Our gooseberries. This bush has been loaded this year. The girls and I so enjoy eating them. I looked them up on the internet once and read that they are a dessert gooseberry. They are very sweet and delicious. I am thinking about looking up a recipe for gooseberry pie. I think it would be good.

Yesterday for ” lupper” we enjoyed steak on the grill, french fries, steamed carrots and broccoli. The broccoli was our first from the garden. So very good! I know lots of you think I misspelled supper, but ” lupper” is our name for a late lunch and an early supper. We just combine lunch and supper together and got the word “lupper”. We have “lupper” a lot when Hubby is home and then have just a little snack later in the evening.

Horseshoe fun

Just a few pictures of the fun we had at our horseshoe pitch. We think we might do it again before summer is over. It was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful place down by the river, a great place to camp.

This is a picture of our pastor and his wife. I believe the Lord truly led him to our church. I have never known a pastor to fit in with a church like him and his wife do. I think they are truly dedicated to the Lord and want to serve Him.

One of our catawba trees. We have several in our yard. Right now we are enjoying our “summer snow”. When these trees bloom out and the bloom starts falling, it looks like it has snowed in our yard. Very pretty.

A better view of the blooms. We spent some time yesterday with our friends, the Horns. The kids had fun playing together. Vicki and I walked around her yard and garden. She has a beautiful garden this year. She has already picked peas from her garden. Hopefully, ours will be ready soon. We had a pretty good rain yesterday. The garden was needing a drink. However, the rain came while we were gone, so the clothes hanging on the line were soaked. I had to bring them in, spin them out again in the machine and then dry them inside. Oh well, things like that happen. I think it will be a nice day here today. Kinda hot for us but it is getting that time of year. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Irises

I think irises are very pretty. These were given to us by a friend at church last year. When we planted them, we were not sure they would live but I think they look pretty good. Today has been a beautiful day here in Floyd. Temperatures in the mid 70’s with a gentle breeze. A beautiful day to hang clothes out on the line. Today Hubby and I set up the wringer washing machine for us to use. We had it set up and ready last fall however the line froze and burst so Hubby had to do some repairs. We are ready now. The girls and I washed 3 loads of clothes on it today. It was hard to keep them focused on school because they wanted to help with the wash. I’m sure this thrill will wear off before summer is over but we’ll see. It is a little more work than the automatic machine but more fun to use. I am very thankful to have it. Yesterday, I made some strawberry-rhubarb jam. I used some of the strawberries we got Saturday in N. C. and the rhubarb came from our patch. This is the first thing we have canned for the year. I am looking forward to much more. I really enjoy canning our own food. It is a lot of hard work but I think it is worth it. At least I know what’s in the jar I’m opening for supper. More Spring blooms

I was hoping with this shot to show all the trees colors together. The yellow of the forsythia, the white of the dogwood, and the purple of the lilac. This area is extremely fragant this time of year. When I’m hanging clothes on the line it smells so wonderful. Temperatures have been a little chilly here but today promises to warm up nicely. We are doing school as usual.Today will be our last spelling list. Yeah! I love doing school with my girls but we are all ready for summer break. I have made out my list of books for next year. We useABEKA.They offer free shipping in the month of April, so I want to order them before themonth is over.New books are always exciting around here.This evening I think we will be going into “little town” to get a few groceries, our seed potatoes and a few cabbage plants.
