We love to visit Mrs. Sally and see all her Christmas decorations.  Her walls are covered with these beautiful wall hangings she has made.

She also has so many nativity scenes.

This one came from Israel.  I think it is my favorite.

She has lots of snowmen.

We had a really nice visit.  She cooked a beef roast with potatoes and carrots.  I took fresh made rolls and an oatmeal pie.

Not much going on here.  Just normal stuff.  Hubby is gone to work and I am letting the girls sleep in a little bit.  Clothes are in the machine washing and dishes are waiting.

I hope you all have a great day and God bless.

Dumpster Treasures

Look what I found today at the dumpster.  Beautiful!  I should tell you all that at our dumpsters people set things out beside the dumpster for others to get.  It is amazing the things you will find.  It is not uncommon to find appliances like dryers, etc.  Sometimes they will even put a paper on it telling you what is wrong with it.  We call it “greenbox shopping” (our dumpsters are green).  Anyway, today when I stopped to put the trash in, there was a box with this beautiful teacup in it.

Also this set of old teacups.  No saucers though.  Oh well, I guess you can’t have everything.

And this old sugar bowl.  I could hardly wait to get home and clean them up.  I love old dishes.

Today was busy running errands and shopping.  We have been gone all day.  Thank the good Lord our car has air conditioning as it is hot again today.   Grace has a dentist appointment tomorrow so we will be gone most of the day again.  Well, it is past time for us to eat supper so I better get busy.  Tonight’s menu is garlic bread and baked spaghetti with cantalope for dessert.  Enjoy your evening and God bless.

Lilac Bush

Our lilac bush has lots of buds on it. YEAH!  If all goes well, it will have lots of beautiful, sweet smelling flowers soon.  We have a small bush we just planted a few years ago at the edge of the garden and it is full of buds too.  I love spring.   I think our rain has stopped for a few days.  It is still very cloudy but the forecast is for the sun to come peeping through this afternoon.  It is already warmer than it was all day yesterday so that is a good sign.   We are hoping to do some more outside work after school.  We have been trying to start school a little earlier so that we can be finished around lunch.  Then we have the afternoon for work and play.  It seems to be working out well so far.

Yesterday, while the girls were at their piano lessons, I went into our local thrift store-Angels in the Attic.  It operates entirely on donations and volunteers.  All the profit each month is given to help local needs.  It is amazing.  They have moved 3 times because they keep growing.  The last time they moved, they purchased the building and in about 2 years had it paid off.   Since all workers are volunteer they have very little expense.  It has really helped our community.  The lady who thought it up is a Christian and tells everyone she can “It is all God”.  Anyway I said all that to say this.  Many years ago, my sister-in-law gave Hubby a coffee cup.  He loves this cup and uses it every morning.  Well, guess what I found.  One that looks just like it at Angels for 25 cents.  How exciting!  This morning I put my coffee in the new cup so that our cups matched.  Cute!  Ialso found this pretty glass.  I love old dishes and this glass just so wanted to come home with me.

I better get busy.  It’s almost time for school.  Enjoy your day and God bless.

Golden Hills

This was the view this morning from my kitchen window as I washed the morning dishes.  Am I a blessed woman or what?  We did get to have our Ladies Study today.  Hallelujah!  The snow has not started yet.  They are predicting 10-13 inches.  This will probably mean no church on Sunday which of course makes for a long week.  However if all goes as planned Jess and crew will be coming up next weekend.  She wants us to sew her some maternity clothes.  We will be going to a local fabric store called Schoolhouse Fabrics.  They have 3 stories full of nothing but cloth.  Then we will come home and snuggle in for 2 days of sewing, and of course lots of MawMaw time.  I can hardly wait!  It is almost supper time.  Tonights menu is one of Hubby’s favorite.  Fried chicken, gravy, corn and biscuits.  I think I’ll throw in some cooked apples too.  YUM!  Are you hungry yet?  Well, I am.  Guess I better get started frying that chicken.  God Bless.
