A Little Decorating

As our morning low was 37 degrees, the girls and I decided it was time for a little fall decoration.  Now at this time in my life I am not a lot on seasonal decorating.  I have no idea why.  I love to look at other people decorating and I think it makes the home look so good.  I guess I’ve just gotten lazy about it.

On our enclosed front porch, we have two tables.  They are now ready for fall.

Inside we did the mantle.  That’s it-that is the extent of our fall decorating.  Not too much.  Easy to take down but enough to make it look a little different.

Hubby is working on the other two chairs today.  Hopefully, they will soon be finished and we can get it all painted.  I hope you all have a great day and God bless.

A Christmas Tin

Hello everyone!  I thought I would show you one of my newest Christmas tins.  I love these things.  I think they look so cheerful and happy.  I got this one at the Salvation Army store a little while back.  I only paid .50 cents for it.  Yesterday, after school, I decided it was time to start filling up some of these tins.  I made pinwheel candy to put inside it.   This is one of our favorite Christmas candies.

Several people on our gift list will be getting homemade candy this year.  Chuck (oldest son) has already called and gave me his wish list for what he wants in his “goody basket”.  I made some peanut butter and chocolate fudge over the weekend for Dave and Jess.  I will post that recipe soon.

We will be doing school today as usual.  We plan on taking a 2 week Christmas break starting on Dec.19th.  I hope you all have a great day and God bless.

“Brash” Pile

This is one of our brush piles to be burned or as some of the old time Grundy people would say “brash”.  I am assuming this would be some of our celtic roots coming through.  I have no idea really.  I do know the older people had a different word for lots of things.  Help was hope, cover was kiver, boiled was biled.  These are a few that come to mind right off the top of my head.   Anyway we have this one piled in the first garden to be burned as soon as we can catch a day with not too much wind.

We are supposed to get much warmer today-upper 50’s I think.  We will hopefully be doing more outside work after school.  The sun is shining beautifully but it is still chilly right now-30 degrees.  I have clothes that are ready to go to the line.  I love it when we can dry them outside.  The birds are telling me to hear out so I can hear them sing.  God is so good!

Enjoy your day and God bless.
