This is a picture of the thread holder hubby made for me. I used to keep them in the basket and everytime I needed thread they were all jumbled up together. One day I told him I needed something to keep all my thread on. Something that would keep them organized. Today he finished it. I really like it. The other picture shows my sewing area with my new machine. Just looking at the pictures makes me want to go make an apron. I am very blessed to have a talented husband who enjoys making things. Well, I have tests to make and work to do. God Bless.
New Cabinets!!!!
Here’s a picture of our new cabinets. Hubby designed and made them. I love them! The side pantry and the bottom cabinet has been made for a while. The top one we just put in today. I can’t wait to fill them up. Old Farmhouses never have enough cabinets or closets. The counter space will be used for a coffee area.
The Blue Willow Sugar Bowl belonged to my grandmother. I just love old things. They have so much character. I think I need to grind some coffee and enjoy a cup. God Bless.
Busy Days
I’m sorry I don’t have a picture to post today. Things have been very busy around here this week. We got to have some MawMaw and PawPaw time Tuesday and Wednesday. Those of you who are grandparents know that takes top priority over everything else. Daniel’s highlight of his stay was riding around the farm in PawPaw’s truck. Wednesday night was really nice. David, Jess, and Daniel went to the fellowship meal with us at church. Everyone (of course) was tremendously impressed with Daniel. Thursday morning brought water heater problems. We replaced both elements and thought our problem was fixed. We should have known better. Never does plumbing go that smooth. We left to have dinner with some friends of ours. We were blessed to pick some apples at their farm. We came home and discovered a hugh water leak under the sink. I mean really under the sink, between the dirt and the floor. The back part of our house sits directly on the ground so this presented a rather large problem. MY WONDERFUL HUBBY ( with my help) managed to get this fixed today. Also I have decided to attempt to sell my crafts at another festival. This one will be Oct. 3. This means I have 1 week to get more stuff made. Today after helping with the plumbing and putting poly on a cabinet we are making for ourselves, I finally got to do some sewing. I made a set of cloth napkins, 1 apron, and set up 1 lap quilt. Hopefully I will finish the quilt tomorrow. It is a Christmas quilt. I will try to post a picture of it when finished. Well it is late. I am tired. God Bless.
New Sewing Machine
Saturday was spent at a local craft sale. I did pretty good selling my dishcloths and aprons. I have needed a new sewing machine for a long time. My old one is about 25 years old and has been giving me lots of trouble lately. Hubby has repaired it many times. Saturday I was blessed to sell enough to purchase this new one. I pray I get as much service from it as I did from the old one. Now I think I need to go sew something. God Bless.
Craft pictures
I thought some of you might be wondering about the name of my blog. I have a small business that I run out of my home. I make aprons, lap quilts, crochet dishcloths, afgans, and prayer shawls. I have made enough to buy the school books for this year. I think that’s pretty good. I have about 50 dishcloths made up to sell but I only have 3 aprons left. As soon as Hubby gets to repair sewing machine I have to get busy with more aprons and lap quilts. I enjoyed my long weekend with Jess and family. We got a lot done. George and Dave laid the tile on the bathroom floor and Jess and I painted her craft room. She chose a bright yellow and she is thinking about going with bright red curtains and accessories. I think it will be gorgeous. I love yellow walls. It makes the entire room so cheerful. I also got lots of MawMaw hugs and a few kisses. He’s stingy with his kisses. Jasper (our puppy) had lots of play time with his brother, Buddy ( Daniel’s puppy). It’s getting time to cook supper so I guess I’ll have to come up with some ideas. Tomorrow I think I might try to can our beets. I’ll post pictures if I do. God Bless.
Dirt Road
I thought you might enjoy the view from our dirt road. I know lots of you don’t have the luxury of dirt roads anymore. There are quite a few still around in Floyd. This one leads to our driveway, turn left at the big barn. I was coming back from the milk barn and thought how pretty this is. So I took a picture. I am getting into this picture taking. (Hubby took the ones for this morning). Notice the big maple tree, already starting to show some color. I guess thats what temperatures in the low 40’s will do. I canned 10 pints of spaghetti sauce today from some tomatoes we gathered last night. (Yes I said last night) At church they were talking about how it was supposed to be colder than the night before, so we took a flashlight out to the garden and gathered tomatoes. Hey, I’m not taking any chances. I want these fresh tomatoes to last as possible. I made homemade pizza this evening for supper using the sauce I’d made. The crust recipe was not as good as I would have liked. I guess I’ll have to do some more searching. The sauce, however was very good. Everyone seemed to like it. I’m glad. It was a lot of work. It sure did make the house smell good though. It’s getting late. God Bless.
More Harvest
Today has been another busy but productive day. We gathered 1/2 bushel of tomatoes from the garden and the dishpan full of peppers. The tomatoes yielded 9 qts and I am attempting for the first time to dry the peppers in the dehydrator. Hope it works. Hubby has been busy today with woodwork. I’ll post a picture when its finished. After canning was done I went to help him and the girls took off upstairs for some play time. They are such good helpers. They help me with everything I do. We try to impress upon them the value of work and the importance of play. Teaching them how to garden and then harvest what we raise is important to me. Canning is becoming a lost art and I want my girls to know how to do it. Well night is approaching and I need to get busy doing my Sunday School lesson. If I hurry I can get it done outside on the swing before dark sets in. God bless.
Summer is Sweet
I thought I would share some of my flowers with you. The second picture is of the garden. The third is my most favorite spot in the entire yard. I love to sit on this swing and enjoy the view. My hubby redid the swing last year. It was one of those from Wal-Mart with fabric for the seat. It also had a fabric cover on top however one Floyd winter can destroy much. We have lots of high wind here so of course the top was the first to go, another year or so and the seat was in really bad shape. So he ripped all that out and put treated wood on it. I love it. God and I have so many special talks right here in this swing. Early spring pictures from my swing. Enjoy
