Good morning everyone! I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you all how Hubby is doing. He had his surgery on Wednesday, May 27th. A friend looked it up for me and he had his other surgery last year on May 31st. Anyway, first off I want to thank my pastor’s wife Bumblebee who sat with me the entire day while Hubby was in surgery. Jessica joined us as soon as David got off work to watch the kids. We have decided Bumblebee, Jess and myself make a pretty good sitting at the hospital team. You all my remember Bumblebee sat with us through many long hours of labor to get John Luke here.
They took Hubby back for surgery around 1:00, actually started the surgery at 2:00 and finished at 9:00. It was definitely a long day. 7 hrs of surgery. Of course, as almost all medical procedures go it was a little more complicated than the surgeon anticipated. It is done though. The big tumor is gone, the fistula is gone, the large and small intestines are joined back together and we pray will be working properly. As soon as he recouperates they will start chemo on the tumors on the liver. He is in considerable pain but sat up on the side of the bed yesterday for about 30 min and walked the length of the room and back.
I appreciate all your prayers so far and ask that you would continue to pray for us. We consider all this a miracle from God. This time last year, we truly thought God was ready to call George home. God said “not yet” and we are thankful for that.
I got this recipe from Vicki. These are the best deviled eggs I have ever tasted.
3 tablespoons ranch dressing
1/2 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
1/8 teaspoon salt
Boil eggs. Peel eggs; cut in half lengthwise. Carefully remove yolks; place in small bowl. Mash yolks with fork until smooth. Stir in remaining ingredients except paprika until well blended Spoon yolk mixture into egg white halves. Sprinkle with paprika.
We love getting together with family and friends for picnics and good fellowship. Yesterday our table looked like this. We enjoyed a wonderful meal with our friends, the Horns. Dave, Jess and kids came over for a while also. It was a really nice evening. Today we went to Pandapas Pond for another picnic. Chuck and his family came, Jess and her family and us. The younger kids played in the pond and us older ones sat around and talked. Great times.
I wanted to let you all know about what has been going on here in the last few weeks. George is taking a much needed break from chemo. While he is on this break, the doctors have decided it is a good time for him to have his surgery. The tumor on his bowels has shrunk enough that they are going to remove it. This is a huge praise!! They will be removing the fistula that is connected to his bladder, repairing the bladder and removing his colostomy. This will be happening on Wednesday, May 27th. We so appreciate your prayers on this as this will be a major surgery. They estimate he will be in the hospital for 5 days. The tumors are still present in his liver but this will greatly improve his quality of life(these are the doctors words). All we know is what we have said all along-GOD IS IN CONTROL AND GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!
This is my new favorite salad. It has spinach on the bottom, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, black beans, strawberries and feta cheese. I usually do not like vinaigrette dressings but this raspberry one is really good with this salad. The spinach is store bought but
ours is coming along nicely. I look forward to our own fresh greens in our next salad.
I thought I would share an early morning picture with you all. These two pictures were taken from our front porch as Hubby and I drank our morning coffee together. I am so blessed! A year ago at this time we did not know if the Lord would give us another year together or not. The same applies today however one thing we do know-God is in control and I praise Him for that.
