I got this recipe from my blogger friend Cheryl at https://holcombfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/ I did alter it some as I wanted to use my bread machine to make the dough.
1 cup warm water, 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour, 4 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. salt and 1 1/2 tsp. yeast. Put into bread machine and set on dough cycle. When cycle is finished, take out on floured surface, flatten dough and roll into a long roll. Pinch ends and let rise for about l hr. I put mine in my oven and turn the oven light on. Then bake at 350 degrees for 15 min.
Garlic butter for making garlic bread
1 stick butter- softened, 2 tsp. minced garlic, 1 tbsp. dried parsley. Spread onto bread and toast.
Today is a rainy day here in Floyd. It was raining last night when we went to bed and still raining this morning when we got up. I think it is supposed to rain most of the day. Julie and Grace have been watching a young neighbor boy occasionally. He will be coming over today while his parents go to a funeral. I think it is good experience for them and gives them a little spending money of their own.
I made several new recipes this week. The first one was kielbasa with cabbage and noodles. It was very good. Last night we got really adventurous and made mexican rice with homemade flour tortillas. I sauted kielbasa, onions, garlic and mushrooms to serve with the rice and tortillas. We ate our supper in the living room while watching a family movie. The girls helped me with the tortillas. There really were a lot of fun to make. A little time consuming but fun. We will definitely be making them and the rice again.
Well, I wanted to share the recipes with you all. We will be having homemade pizza for supper tonight using the pizza dough recipe I used last time. I hope you all have a great day and God bless.
I found this recipe at Johnsonville Sausage. I altered it a little to fit our taste.
5 cups cabbage,-chopped, 1 onion-diced, 1/4 cup butter, 1 package kielbasa chopped, small amount of jalapena pepper-chopped, 1 clove garlic-minced, 1 cup sliced mushrooms, 4 cups egg noodles cooked according to package directions. In a large skillet saute cabbage, onion, pepper and garlic. Add the kielbasa, noodles, salt and pepper. Cook until heated through.
Hubby took this picture for me this morning. I thought you all might like it. It was very beautiful. Today has been a gorgeous day here in Floyd. Temperatures have been in the low 50’s. Lots of sunshine!! Amazing. Need I say, I LOVE it.
Not a lot going on here other than just enjoying this warm weather. I have finished another apron and have started another one. I need to get a few supplies though before I do any more. I plan on going into our little town tomorrow. I want to go to Schoolhouse Fabrics. I think I have mentioned it before. It is an old 3 story school house that has been converted into a fabric store. 3 levels of material and any thing else a person might need for sewing.
Tonight’s supper is chicken alfredo with homemade garlic breadsticks. We are having homemade cinnamon rolls for dessert, thanks for the idea , Cary Ann. I hope you all have a great evening and God bless.

2. In a small bowl combine remaining ingredients. mix together and pour mixture over venison. Cook on Low setting for 6 hours.
I usually put it on in the morning, cook on high until time for supper. Also good with beef roast. I got this recipe from Allrecipes but have alterned it some to suit our taste.
Today, we worked on making spaghetti sauce. I got this recipe from Sally, our pastor’s wife. We really like it.
Spaghetti Sauce
Scald and peel half a bushel of tomatoes (we used our food strainer instead), 6 cups chopped onions, 4 chopped green peppers, 1 clove of garlic. Cook for 1 and a half hours, stirring frequently. Add 1 pt olive oil, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup salt, 1 tbsp oregano, 1 tbsp crushed basil leaves, 1 tbsp italian seasoning, 1 tbsp parsley, 5-12 oz cans tomato paste, 4 jalopeno peppers. Cook another 45 min stirring frequently. Put in jars. Heat lids and seals to boiling. Put lids and seals on jars. Cover jars with towel and let sit overnight.
The sauce simmering in the pot. Can anyone guess what we are having for supper?
Enjoy your day and God bless.
Look what I found today at the dumpster. Beautiful! I should tell you all that at our dumpsters people set things out beside the dumpster for others to get. It is amazing the things you will find. It is not uncommon to find appliances like dryers, etc. Sometimes they will even put a paper on it telling you what is wrong with it. We call it “greenbox shopping” (our dumpsters are green). Anyway, today when I stopped to put the trash in, there was a box with this beautiful teacup in it.
Also this set of old teacups. No saucers though. Oh well, I guess you can’t have everything.
And this old sugar bowl. I could hardly wait to get home and clean them up. I love old dishes.
Today was busy running errands and shopping. We have been gone all day. Thank the good Lord our car has air conditioning as it is hot again today. Grace has a dentist appointment tomorrow so we will be gone most of the day again. Well, it is past time for us to eat supper so I better get busy. Tonight’s menu is garlic bread and baked spaghetti with cantalope for dessert. Enjoy your evening and God bless.
We are finished with health! Isn’t that great? The girls decided yesterday that since we were so close to being finished, they would just work on through to the end. (This decision was made all on their own, I didn’t even suggest it) I think that is amazing in itself but so typical of homeschool kids.
Today is a very nice day. Lots of sunshine. Temperatures are in the low 40’s. Amazing! I have clothes on the line, I love it. The girls and I have been walking down to the barn to get milk this week. Today’s walking should be fairly nice except for the mud. I know, complain, complain. But I really do not like walking in mud. Good exercise though.
Tonights menu will be kielbasa with sauteed mushrooms, onion, garlic and green peppers served over brown rice. I haven’t decided what to have for dessert yet , maybe a peach cobbler. I have made little progress on the matching aprons. I am very frustrated with myself. I made an unfixabe error on the little girl apron. I will have to transform it into a doll apron. At least, it will be usable for something. Well, that’s how you learn, I reckon.
I hope you all have lots of sunshine today and warm temperatures and that you are able to go outside and enjoy the beauty of the day. God bless.
Hubby worked some more today on splitting wood. He wanted to know why I took this picture of him splitting a toothpick, why didn’t I get him splitting a real piece of wood.
Julie splitting her first piece of wood.
Grace getting ready to split her first piece. All girls need to know how to split wood. After practicing splitting, we got busy and hauled all that Hubby had split into the wood building and stacked it up. He almost has all the wood split that we have cut so we will soon have to cut more. Oh the joys of heating with wood! Seriously, it is a lot of work but it is definitely good heat and all it costs us is our work. Not a bad trade in my opinion.
We worked on school today, did some house cleaning. The ladies will be coming tomorrow for bible study. Supper tonight is baked spaghetti with lots of mozzarella cheese and home made garlic breadsticks. We also have some cushaw pie left with whipped cream.
Enjoy your evening and God bless.
