Hello everyone!  I hope you are all doing great today.  We are kinda warm here in Floyd-86 degrees but we do have a very pleasant wind so it doesn’t seem so bad.  At least, not if you are in the shade!

We worked in the garden this morning.  We started early but it still got pretty hot before we were done.  This is a picture of the first raised bed.  We have been enjoying the salad greens and green onions for a while now.

We had a great visit yesterday with my Uncle John and Aunt Elaine.  They live in Mighigan and had never been to the farm before.  Jess and her kids came up.  Everyone went  for a ride in the bumpy truck.  It was so good to get to see them.

Our grapevine seems to be doing okay now.  I was a little worried about it as it got frostbite by the last frost we had.  We won’t have as many grapes as last year but it looks like there will be a few.

The roses are blooming and look very beautiful in the tree.  We spent most of the evening sitting here yesterday enjoying the view and time spent with family.  I wanted to tell you all about something beautiful I saw last night.  I almost ALWAYS have to get up during the night to go to the bathroom.  Well, last night when I got up I looked out our bedroom window and the sight I saw was totally amazing.  The stars were shining so bright in the sky and underneath them the lightning bugs were everywhere!  So many it looked like blinking Christmas lights.  I stood there watching it all thinking how good our God is to allow me to see something like that!

I hope you all have a great evening and God bless.

  1. I wish I could have seen the lightning bugs. Everything at your house looks so pretty. I want to see it soon! I am glad you had a nice visit. Sounds like so much fun! We camped at Claytor last night. It had to be our best camping trip yet. We actually got up at 5:30 this morning, had breakfast, and walked all through the park before anyone else was even up. It was so peaceful. I hoped I have convinced you to go camping! 🙂 I wonder if it is still 86º at your house. It is 66º at our house right now-we just had one heck of a storm. It blew Caspians kennel across the back hillside. I will call you in a little bit. :)Vicki

  2. I wish I could have seen that sight! A few weeks ago Chuck and I were both awake about 3 in the morning. We ended up stepping outside and the sight of all of the stars was amazing!

I hope we have lightening bugs this year. The drought keep them away last year.

Your place looks great. I especially like the roses in the tree. Pretty!

  3. What great pictures. What an awesome view that God gave you last night. We don’t have lightening bugs here.

I am slowly catching up on blogs. I read when I can, but don’t always have time to post.

Have a wonderful weekend with your family.

  4. That sounds sooo peaceful. I would have loved to see that. I love sitting out on the front porch in the summer and watching the lightening bugs in the front pasture. I live to watch the kids try to catch them with jars. Your pictures are beautiful. Your veggies are coming along nicely. We too use raised beds.
I love the roses in the trees. I wish I could grow grapes. I have tried one time before. I had got a few from a friend, but they never took. I would like to try again. Do you make grape jelly?

  5. I love watching fire flies! So nice that you got a lightening bug show! (There is a debate in our house which is the proper name so I always use both!)

    Your garden raised-bed looks wonderful!
