    Christmas Decorating 2024

Today was a super fun day. It started out with a beautiful sunrise!

Later in the day, it was time to decorate for Christmas! The kids came over to help.
It is always so much fun!
Daniel and I reaching for the ceiling❤😄

    Time for lunch

    Tree is done!
You will notice,  no decorations at the bottom of the tree. Hopefully to keep Juicy from getting in trouble 😘
Our special tree topper, a reminder of the reason for the season. If you look really close at the bottom right corner, you will see another reason why it is special.💖

All is done! They are upstairs now playing a game! God is good!

  • Christmas Tree 2024

    Christmas Tree 2024
We had a wonderful time today cutting our Christmas tree! Grace and I are new to this tradition but we love it!
The tree farm is such a beautiful place. The temperature today was just perfect. A little chilly but not too bad.  We had a few flurries this morning and then the sun came out and it was beautiful!
Grace and Sam picked out our tree!
    Jess’s tree!
And here is ours.  No lights or decorations yet but it still looks beautiful.  I will update this post after we get it all decorated.  It was a really fun day!

    God bless!

  • Delicious Pork Sandwiches

To a pint jar of canned pork add peppers and onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, fajita seasoning, oregano, and parsley. You can also add cilantro. I added these ingredients to our taste but guessing for the spices about a half teaspoon of each. Feel free to add more or less according to your family’s taste. We don’t like things spicy hot but I did add a few shakes of cayenne powder. You could also use hot peppers but I did not. Salt and pepper to taste. This makes a really good pork sandwich.

  • Rice Mixes

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v7OUiweaDpA&t=9s

I recently found this youtube channel and have been really enjoying her video. We love flavored rice so I am looking forward to trying these.

Update…I made the chicken rice mix for supper last night. It was way too salty for us. I will change the chicken bouillon to 1 tsp  per cup of rice. Maybe 1 and 1/2 tsp

  • Hot sauce

    Hot sauce

Sam and I made our annual hot sauce today. We used the above recipe. We doubled the recipe. We made a few changes to the recipe. We used 12 oz jalapeno and 12 oz sugar rush peach peppers. We did 7 cloves of medium sized garlic. We did 2 cups white vinegar and 2 cups apple cider vinegar. We used 3 tbsp lemon juice.

While Sam and I were making the hot sauce, Grace and Katie put up our fall decorations.  We had a really fun day!

  • Salsa Verde

    Salsa Verde

Made a new to me recipe using tomatillos. The recipe came from this book.

Very excited to taste it. Hopefully it will be good.

  • Garden

    Garden

Good morning everyone! Here are a few garden pictures. So far everything is looking good. We have harvested all the broccoli,  just waiting on the shots to grow out for one last harvest. We have 3 cabbage plants remaining.

The beans are looking good and so are the tomatoes.

The squash and zucchini are just starting to come in. The peppers in front of the zucchini are hot peppers, Jalapeno and Sugar Rush Peach.

Patty pan squash in the grow bag, sunflowers that are looking beautiful and 2 cherry tomatoes behind the sunflowers.

An experiment, trying to grow a few ears of corn in one of the new raised beds.

Okra in the other raised bed. Also new to us, purple peas on both sides of the arch.
    They are beautiful!
Cucumbers are just starting to come in!
Look at all the bloom on this tomato!
I’ve  never grown tomatillo before but this look really good. Lots of bloom and fruit already set. I am looking forward to making salsa verde with these.
I have flowers planted all over the garden just for pretty!

That’s all for today. God bless!

  • Strawberry Lemonade Concentrate

    https://www.ballmasonjars.com/blog?cid=strawberry-lemonade-concentrate

This is such a great drink to have on hand. We love it. I substitute a 3 pound bag of frozen strawberries for the fresh and use bottled lemon juice.

I’m sure fresh ingredients would be better but using frozen strawberries and bottled lemon juice cuts down a lot on the cost of making it.

  • Homemade Mayo

I made this recipe the other day and it turned out really well.
  • Garden 2024

    Garden 2024
Good morning everyone! It’s time for garden updates! The birds are all happily singing! I think these tree swallows are beautiful birds.
The rhubarb is ready to harvest.  I have already harvested from the other one. We made rhubard mint tea. It was delicious!
Early peas, carrots and radishes.  Katie helped me plant this bed.
    Cabbage
    Broccoli
Kohlrabi.  I started all these from seed in February.  So far they are looking very good.
    Oregano
    Mint
    Red Russian Kale
    Green onions. Ignore the weeds!
    Spinach
Lettuce. I’m having a little bit of a problem with my lettuce germinating.
    Blueberries
    Grapes
    Raspberries
    Wild mustard
My new little sitting area. I love it!❤

That’s all for now.  Enjoy your day and God bless.
