Tuesday

Hello everyone!  I hope all is well with you all.  We have been busy with canning and other misc. things.  Seems to me time surely does go by quickly.  Yesterday we canned pickles.  We did 8 pts of bread and butter pickles.  These are Hubby’s favorite.  Then we did 12 pts of dill pickles.  Today we are canning green beans.

I wanted to let you all know I made the refrigerator pickled beets last week and they are really  good.  I also made the Dutch oven bread.  It was very good as well.  We thought the bottom crust was a little tough.  I think I may reduce the temperature in my oven next time and see if that makes a difference.

Jess had a spell with veritgo last week.  It sure was rough on her.  The girls and I went down Thursday and Friday to help out with the kids.  They sure are a lot of fun.  Daniel’s first day of school was yesterday.  He was SO excited!  He called me when he got home and told me all about it.  Now, how sweet is that!!

We were pretty warm here last week but seem to have cooled down some this week.  At least yesterday was cooler.  Hopefully, today will be as well.  Well, I guess those beans won’t can themselves.  Enjoy your day and God bless.

  1. You are getting so much canning done! Your pickles sound so good. Dill pickles are our favorite. Your pickled beets sound delicious too. We only got one pint of pickled beets from the beets we grew! I want to grow more this fall. I will be sure to space my seeds out more. 🙂 I can’t wait to try the bread. I have quite a few loaves frozen in the freezer, and I want to use those up first. (Jess- I am glad you are feeling better! Your are REALLY blessed to have a mama that helps you like that!) Your grand kids are all so sweet and fun! Madison and Bub were actually complaining about being cold last night. I told them to just enjoy it!! I hope I have more green beans to can this weekend.

    Have a great day!!

  3. You have been very busy. It is way to early pickling here in our neck of the woods yet. But it will be here before we know it. I always enjoy canning season it makes me feel all warm inside knowing that my family will have plenty of goodies during theses cold long months of winter.
Your recipes sound good. I will sure to give them a try.
So very nice of you to help out with the grand kiddies.
Our school only goes back in the second week of September. Our weather is cooling down a bit now, with no humidity, and has began to rain at supper time. It is raining hard out there now, but it is much needed.
    Take care and happy canning.

  4. School starts early there. We start on August 26th this year. I can’t believe Daniel is so big already. I am going to cut down on canning as we will only have 3 at home this year once Emily goes to college.

    Have a wonderful evening.
