Visitors

We have lots of deer in Floyd. Yesterday evening, Jasper started barking. A look out the sitting room window showed why. Deer visit often but I seldom get a picture. There were 5 of them. They stayed for a while then moved on down the field. That’s fine by me as they can do tremendous damage to a yard or a garden.
We also had a little skiff of snow. They were predicting lots more but for some reason it didn’t happen here. The girls were a little disappointed as they really wanted to make snow cream.Oh well, winter isn’t over yet. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Good Morning

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday morning. Things are good here. We were blessed with another beautiful sunrise this morning. Thank you, Lord!
Yesterday was a nice day. We did have some snow but not enough to make snow cream. The girls worked on school and I worked on various little things around the house. I made two loafs of banana bread. I plan on freezing one for later use.
We took some more baked goods to R G Cattle Co. Wednesday. We are hoping they sell. Seems like I am having a hard time thinking of what to write about this morning. I guess it is because today is our anniversary and I am thinking about how blessed I am. God is so good and faithful.
Enjoy your day and God bless.

Frosty Morning

It definitely was a frosty morning here in Floyd. This is what the Parkway looked like this morning as I was going into town. I wanted to run a few errands early as snow was predicted for this evening. I’m glad I did as we are getting snow now. I don’t think there will be much accumulation though. The girls are hoping for at least enough to make snow cream.
This picture was taken at the top of our driveway. I thought the clouds and sky were very pretty.
This is an old barn below our house. Can you tell I am glad to have my new camera?
Not much going on here. Time to sit and rest for a spell. Enjoy your evening and God bless.

Happy Monday

I know-another sunrise picture-but what can I say. I love sunrises and sunsets. I took this picture the other morning with my new camera. My old camera was about 10 yrs old and had been giving me a lot of trouble. So Hubby decided to get me a new one for Christmas. I really like it. It is much smaller and more compact than the old one. Thanks, Babe!
This is what we have been doing today. We did a major spring clean of the sitting room. Windows, curtains everything. I think it looks so good. We call it the sitting room because it is a favorite sitting place. This is the view from the couch.
A great place to sit and read or sit and pray or-well you get the idea. We are getting cloudy here with rain expected tonight. I think they are calling for snow on Wednesday. We’ll see what happens. I am planning on making more bread tomorrow to take to sell. All the other loaves sold!!!! I think I might bake some chocolate chip cookies and see if they sell too.
I guess that’s about all that is going on here. Oh, I almost forgot. Sad and happy times for our church. The new pastor was voted in yesterday. This is good as I think he will do an excellent job. Sad though as we will miss Pastor Tom and Sally. I thank all of you for your prayers on this. I hope you have a wonderful day and God bless.

Our Tea Time

Since our visit to the tea room, we have been having tea every day. This is our “set” we have been using. All of this, we have had for a long time except the little sugar bowl. I found it here on the farm in one of the buildings. It looked a lot different when I found it than it does now. I did a lot of cleaning on it but it was well worth it.
I also took some bread Wednesday over to R G Cattle Co. here in Floyd to see if maybe it would sell. I talked to the owner today and she said all had sold except one loaf and they would probably be buying it. Yeah! This is good news. Hopefully, I can keep on selling it. A little extra cash is always a good thing. I also sold 2 loaves last week to a man our pastor knows.
We are moving along with our pastor search. We had a prospective pastor speak Sunday. He did a really good job. We will be voting this coming Sunday. I would appreciate your prayers on this matter.
Well, lunch break is over-time for school to start back. I am SOOOO glad to have my computer back. It makes it much more convenient for me to make posts. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless.

New Pizza Pan

I wanted to show you all my new pizza pan. Jess got me this for Christmas!! I have been wanting a cast iron pizza pan for quite a while. I LOVE it!! It really makes a difference in the crust. I have posted the crust recipe I use here https://merryheartcrafts.com/category/recipes/bread I’ve tried many and many homemade crust recipes. This is by far the best I have tried and very easy to make.
We make a lot of homemade pizza here for three reasons. One, it is 20 min from our home to the closest pizza place. That’s 20 min there, 20 min back-not good. Second, they are expensive-not the Little Caesar’s $5.00 pizzas. Third, we just like homemade stuff better. That being said, guess what we had for lunch today.
We are getting settled in today for some serious cold weather. We were supposed to have snow today but that did not happen. Our temperature has dropped 20 degrees since we got up this morning and is supposed to drop 20 more by midnight. Tomorrow mornings low is -5 with a wind chill of -25. I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT!!! Hopefully, power stays on and water does not freeze. I keep reminding myself, spring is on the way. I hope you all stay warm and God bless.

The Secret Tea Room

Hello everyone! It has been many months since my laptop has been in operation. Thanks to my hero, Dave, I am tonight sitting in my chair making my post on my laptop. Thank you, thank you Dave!!!
This weekend, Jess, Julie, Grace and myself, went somewhere new. Something we had never done before. It was part of my Christmas gift. We went to an actual tea room and had the “Queen’s tea”.
We had so much fun. We tried new things (new to us), laughed SO much and just really enjoyed the day.
Here we are getting ready to leave for our outing.
Here is my little keepsake to remind me of the fun day I had with all my precious girls. Life is short. I think we should take every opportunity to spend time with those we love.
Enjoy your day and God bless.

Granny Mary

Hello everyone! I am taking another walk down memory lane today. I remembered this morning (before I even got out of bed) that I had this old newspaper article about my mom’s mother. It took me a while to find it but it was worth the search. The newspaper was dated 1966 and I think the writing style is so sweet. I apologize that I couldn’t get the print to be any bigger and where the paper was folded they are a few lines missing but hopefully you will be able to read it. I also found this sale ad from a local supermarket in the paper. I think you will find the prices interesting.
Not much going on here. We cut wood on Saturday as it was fairly warm here. It is a full days work when we get wood. George cuts it, the girls and I wheelbarrow it to the truck and stack it. We then bring it home, split it as we unload it , then stack it in the building. As I said it is a full day but then that load is completely finished. I like that.
Well, I better get busy. Enjoy your day and God bless.
