Gingerbread Coffee Creamer

Today I tried a new recipe. Gingerbread coffee creamer. I got the recipe from food.com I added 1 cup powdered milk to the recipe, as I like mine extra creamy.
Directions:
-
Blend well in a blender.
- You will see specks of the spice in the mixture. I have already tried this recipe and I thought it turned out great. I think I really like making all these flavored coffee creamer.
- I will leave you all with another fall picture.
And a sunrise picture Grace took this morning. Enjoy your day and God bless. -

Bottom Creek Gorge

Yesterday we went with the Horn’s to Bottom Creek Gorge. It was absolutely beautiful! So many beautiful colors.
We stopped at an overlook and I took these pictures.
We had a great time. We hiked and then came back on the Parkway to picnic. Such a wonderful day. I have so many beautiful pictures to show you all. Enjoy your day and God bless.

From My Front Yard

I thought I would share this picture with you all. This is the view from our front yard. Our God certainly loves color!
Not much going on here today. Just the normal stuff-school, laundry, lunch. We have had rain and fog this morning. The rain has stopped and the fog seems to be lifting. Hopefully, we will soon see lots of sunshine. Everything is a soggy mess right now.
I think I’ll go have a cup of pumpkin spice coffee with my Hubby. I hope you all have a great day and God bless.

Wednesday

Today, we have been busy with school. We did a batch of apples in the steam juicer. We got 1 gal and 1 qt. of juice. We then run the apples through the Roma sauce maker and got enough applesauce to make 3 qts of applebutter. YUM! I also made a batch of homemade laundry soap.
Colors here are at their peak this week. I hope to get more pictures to share. We have been having rain but it looks like it will clear up this evening. Hubby has been busy making a king size bed for Jess and Dave. I will show you all pictures when he gets it finished. I think it looks beautiful. Here he is working on one of the posts for the headboard. I think I actually managed to get this picture without him knowing it. He was deep in concentration.
Tonights supper will be baked pork chops with potatoes and carrots, pumpkin pie for dessert. I guess I better get busy, I think everyone is getting hungry. Enjoy your day and God bless.

A Quilt for Katie

I thought I would show you all a quilt the girls made for Katie. They did everything including heming it on the machine. I thought they did a really good job. I just finished crocheting an afgan for her but we forgot to take a picture of it. I’ll try to get one next time we go down.
Today has been rainy and overcast here. The air has become chillier as the day progressed. Not much else going on here. We did school and then Hubby and I went in to town to get some chicken feed. They have been doing really well with their laying. I had sold enough eggs to pay for the feed except for $2.00. I thought that was pretty good.
Supper tonight is deer tenderloin, gravy, corn, biscuits and plum jelly. YUM! Here are a few fall shots we took the other day.
This one is the field behind our house.
Enjoy your day and God bless.

Hello Everyone!

I think it has been a long time since I made a post but things have been kinda busy here. Jess and the boys came up on Thursday. We spent Friday doing some shopping and then Dave came up Friday evening. He and Hubby went over to our pastor’s house for a men’s shoot on Saturday. Today Dave, Jess and the boys went with us to church. It was pastor appreciation day. We had a fellowship meal after church with lots and lots of good food.
Today has been a very nice day here in Floyd. Sunshine, a slight breeze and a temperature of about 65 degrees. Very nice. I hope to get some fall pictures this week to show you all. The trees are starting to get beautiful colors here. Tomorrow the girls and I will go down to play with the boys while Jess has one last ultra sound. She only has about 3 weeks to go.
This is a picture of some flowers that are blooming beside the road on our way to church. Aren’t they pretty? Well, I have a lot of posts to read to get caught up on what has been happening in everyone else’s life. Enjoy your day and God bless.

A Dirt Road

I love dirt roads. Yes, for those of you who live or have lived on a dirt road, you are probably thinking that I’m a little bit crazy. Well, yes, I am that but I do think dirt roads have a yesterday feel to them. Forget about the fact that your vehicle is always dirty, either with dust or with mud. They just have a slower type atmosphere about them, which I love.
Yesterday, we went to play with the boys while Jess went to the doctor. She and Katie are both doing well. Time is ticking down for them, just a few more weeks to go. Well, I’m going to tell you all, those boys sure know how to pull on MawMaw’s heart strings. I made the comment that it was getting time to go and Sam immediately wants MawMaw, following me everywhere, wanting me to hold him. Daniel doesn’t want us to leave either. We finally get out the door and I am almost to the car when Daniel opens the back door and says “MawMaw, I wish you could just stay forever and ever.” I tell you, I sure love those boys. They will be coming up this weekend. Saturday, our pastor is having a men’s shoot at his house. David and Hubby will be going to that.
I will leave you all with a sunrise picture Grace took the other morning. She was standing on our front porch when she took it. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Baby Shower

Jessica’s baby shower went very well. We had lots of good food.
She got lots of nice gifts.
Daniel wearing a pirate hat his Daddy made from tissue paper.
And baby Sam , well, just being baby Sam.
We have had some cooler temeperatures here this weekend. Saturday our low was 35 degrees, Sunday was 34 and this morning it was 38. I built a fire Saturday and Sunday. Last night, at church we started a new study. We will be studying Phillipians. We had lots of good food (of course). Chips and dip, cheeseball, homemade rolls, kielbasa with peppers and onions, cole slaw, salmon cakes, chicken, cookies, cake, ice cream and apple dumplings. As I said, lots of good food. Well, it’s time for school to start for us. Enjoy your day and God bless.

Teapots, Sugar bowls and Creamers

I thought I would share a few pictures of my teapots, sugar bowls and creamers with you all. I think I have told this story before but some of you may not know it. This sugar bowl and creamer belonged to my mother. She told me when she was a very young girl, a man came by the house peddling his wares. He was riding a horse and carried his things to sell inside saddle bags that hung down each side of the horse. He was showing his things to sell to my grandparents and my mother saw this set. She asked if she could have it and my grandfather said yes. This was a rare treat as few things were ever bought at her home. This was the first item to go into her “hope chest.”
And here they are sitting nice and pretty on the shelves Hubby built for me.
Today is cloudy here with a coolness in the air. I think we are supposed to get cooler temps this weekend. We went over to clean the church yesterday. It was our last week of cleaning until next September. The men at church have been working on putting a roof over the entrance to the basement. Grace got a few pictures of them hard at work.
They got quite a lot done and they are working there today as well. I hope you all enjoy your day and God bless.
